I was given receptor status with my biopsy, but I also had IDC. Next to DCIS, the path report showed "high nuclear grade".

Cross-posted from Summer 2015 Rads. The memes should be recognizable from both threads. Apologies to people I didn't get in--please add verses!

A Woman Named Blue (and her Dog Pink, Too)

A dog named Pink and my friend LittleBlue
Got to scrapping one night, though each of them knew
What the real fight was (and they'd seen a few),
Had Pink and my friend LittleBlue.

Says Pink, "I know some things about cancer,
I've seen it a lot and I've got the answer,
Take it all off, cause now you're a dancer,
Show off that chest, cause you're a romancer."

[Dizzparkmom, GingerChi, gkodad, and the April Chemo chorus and go-go dancers:]
"Light it up, take it off, shake it down, shake it down-down, down-down, uh!
Light it up, take it off, shake it down, shake it down-down, down-down!"
[Addie, spoken:] "You know you wanna!"
[LittleBlueFlowers, spoken:] "Oh, I do, all right!"

"Look here," says Blue, pulling off her chest bandage,
"Make no mistake, it's an effing shit sandwich,
And pardon me for my filthy language
(There's ladies present, but the ladies will manage)."

[Keys-Plez and Summer Rads chorus, spoken:] "Your scar looks great! I see head fuzz! Maaan, do my TEs itch or what?"
[Marksgirl, spoken:] "Yeah, like that Aquaphor don't itch, too."
[Queenmomcat and ORgirl:] "Oh, it itch, sister, it itch a LOT!"
[CAMommy:] "Uh, huh, tell me something I DON'T know--like about Arimidex!"

Says Pink, "It hurts to wear your PJs,
So don't work that thang, just go for BJs.
Fight lymphedema as you dance to the DJs,
And pick up a wig online at the Ebay's!"

"A wig?" goes Blue, "I'm wearing a scarf,
It's the Dance of the Seven Veils till I barf,
I'm Tank Girl, I'm Lieutenant Worf,
Now crank up the country and I'll take it all off!"

[Intense twangy guitar solo, signifying Blue's increasingly energetic disrobing dance.]

"I'm destroying invaders with schmaltz and chemo,
But I like a song that's not too emo!
I live in Montana but this I know:
Breast cancer sucks no matter where you go."
[Kbeee, spoken:] "And not in a nice way."

"Well, then," says Pink, "You'll want radiation,
with a bolus and linear acceleration.
Not gonna lie, it's a weird sensation,
And not gonna help with your lady-lubrication."

[Katy's rap:] "Holy cow! Don't go there now!
Got hair on her chin and a unibrow!
Jack say 'Woof!' and Tutti go 'Meow!
Meow, meow, meow,' break it down, break it down now, OW!"

[Break with various rap-style percussion noises, beat box, meowing cats, chainsaws, tambourines, etc. In the music video, a forest fire is successfully extinguished by buff firefighters.]

Pink says, "Blue, I know what you think,
But though it's my name, I'm not damned pink,
And I'm working for you, not Cancer, Inc.,
So I'll think good thoughts; you'll throw up in the sink."

Then Blue says, "Pink, I aim to please,
So I'm gonna bust a move with my rads striptease.
Now lay down the rhythm, then get on your knees
And pray till there's No Evidence of Disease."
[Positive Spirit, spoken:] "You know, my good friend, NED."
[DizzParkMom, spoken:] "You know Ned? You know my sista, Emla?"

So they sang, drank l-glutamine, danced, and cussed,
Complained about lack of fingernails and lust,
And found the commonality in all of us.
The next song's about an effing wal-rus, yo!
[Ksusan, yelled:] "Goo goo g'joob, homegirls!"
[Whitney, yelled:] "Yo, yo, yo! WPMoon inna house!"

Ankledolphin, after the lumpectomy they should know more, but it is not uncommon to find IDC when they originally thought just DCIS. The stage if just DCIS is stage zero by definition, but she definitely needs to know ER, PR, HER2 status and grade. Maybe also Ki67 if they do that for DCIS. I hope all goes well. Keep us posted

    ha ksusan that is great!!

Well I had my last chemo Tuesday. So glad to be done. Don't have a picture to share yet because hubby hasn't sent the one he took to me yet. It was a nice day. I had my favorite nurse and she saved "my seat" for me. I rang the bell 3 times loud and proud. Today I'm just tired. Yesterday I had a stomach ache all day BUT this is the last time I have to deal with the chemo hangover (I hope) so I will deal with it. I won't be needing rads because I didn't Jane lymph node involvement so now I just Monitor it and hope this cancer never shows up again. I go in September 16th to get my foobs. I CANNOT wait to get these expanders out. They feel like bricks on my chest. They will also be removing my port at time of implant surgery and sometime in October or November I will be having my hysterectomy. I already cannot wait for the new year. To start the year out with a clean slate and bill of health. All of this crap before I'm 30?! Thanks to my dad for passing on the BRCA 2 mutation lol

I hope everyone is doing well.

tamoxifen is only for hormone positive? That's weird he would want you in it.

He said because I was young. My chance for reoccurring in my other breast. He's been in oncology for like 35 years, who am I to question. I mean I've read studies about it's use with my type of cancer but I didn't think it was commonly used. I go it filled...it's sitting on the counter. That's about how far I've gotten with it

mammjencoz- my mo has never once mentioned me taking tamoxifen. I also thought that was for hormone based tumors.... I would question it. The answer just because you are young in my opinion doesnt work!!!

Was a little disappointed and annoyed i still need herceptin past oct (thought since that was the last date on my upcoming appointments that was the end) so i get to keep my port until April... A full year, every three weeks of herceptin and lately my side affects from it are just as painful as my lumpectomy still is as well as my port hurting again! And i also have to start radiation but no idea on how long since i dont even meet that doc till next week.

Addie, CONGRATS on being done!!! Hope you're feeling better! You'll soon have your foobs and no more painful TE..YAY!

Melb44, you're almost there, only 1 more to go! So happy for you!! :)

lol lol ksusan! What an anthem you've penned...too funny!!!

Positive: I'm ready for the fall leaf pix!! It's still hot and muggy down here, cooler weather cant get here fast enough for me! Hope all is going well with the new business!!!!

I had Taxol #7 Tuesday, 5 more to go...hoping they go fast. The neuropathy is pretty mild this week....thank God!

ankle and mammajen, I'll be on Herceptin until next summer, so I'll get to keep my port for quite a while yet too. Last week I had horrible pain in the port area, but my whole body was hurting and I blamed Taxol. I hope Herceptin wont be that painful....a year of that would be the total pits!

Hope everyone is feeling good and has a great holiday weekend!

So I'm sitting here at work sans chapeau for the first time- got my DH to shave the tiniest mohawk into my hair for me and gobbed on the makeup. Feeling somewhat nervous, but wigs and such were really getting me down..

littleblue where's the photo of that Mohawk for us?! Ha-ha You are bold and brave and can carry it off!!! Hooray for you!

5 rads done! I'm starting back to work next week full time. Praying my body will comply. New location, entirely different department but same health system. Will be learning many new things as a patient rep. I may miss the hands on clinical side but right now that's not the best for my health and recovery as we go into germ season. Really looking forward to finding a new daily normal.

My sister flying in today from CA! Yeah! I will meet my niece for the first time. We are having a big 1st BDay for her Sat. What a year it has been!

All of you I hope SEs are low. Do something fun for end of summer labor day weekend. Here in IL it will be the hottest we have had all summer.

Wow! How many weeks pfc are you Jen? It really says something that I am so jealous of the wee bit of hair some of you have. I've got nothing but fuzz. Can't wait to have that much!

Trying to decide if my hands/feet problem is not just peripheral neuropathy but also hand-foot syndrome. I've got not just numbness, but also pain. (If that makes any sense.) Feet feel prickly like, tight and overall sore. Hands hurt to grip anything (pencil, fork, weight). Fingers throb, nails ache (like I am sticking pins under my nails)...typing feels like I am intensly wacking the keyboard. My brain keeps trying to bargain... "maybe he'll let me skip last chemo or at least reduce the dose" and the I'm freaked out at the idea of not getting 100% because of what might happen...but what if this pain gets worse? I'm already taking practically every supplement...even all the ones people are afraid to take during chemo. Also sick of taxotears. I wake up each morning and my eyes are so dry I can hardly open them. After a bit of rubbing and putting in drops, I can just about see a blurry image. Then the taxotears start and my eyes are sticky and irritated. Finally, after about an hour of being awake, the tears dry up and I can see clearly. Every freaking morning it's the same routine. 10 more days until final chemo....31 days until we meet the surgeons, about 50 something days until bmx.
