Jenny, I have to say it took about 3-4 weeks from the start of radiation when I started to feel relief and 6 weeks when I think I felt the max benefit from the treatment. Initially I couldn't lift my leg to get in and out of the car without using my hands to lift it due to the pain. I couldn't climb steps leading with my right leg either. Now my pain is minimal, barely an ache if I over do it.

I am the Director of Rehabilitation and part of my job is treating patients. I need to be able to lift over 50 pounds to return to work. My oncologist has me out until 9/21 and then returning at full duty. He said to give it a try, but if I can't do it he'll keep me out. I hope I can go back to work, if not I will be looking for a different setting when I can be a manager but not treat patients.

Good luck and keep me posted!

Andi67, sorry you had the anxiety of having to get your results through an email but so happy it's all good news, awesome! Doing a happy dance for you.

Bosco, sounds to me like stable and I'm so happy for you. That was nice of the radiologist to go through everything with you.

Carla, still sending positive thoughts, hope you get results soon.

Summer, praying everything is fine and you can breathe a sigh of relief.

    Hugs to all, Annie

Andi...happy dancing for you...and I think I'm a pretty good dancer so I'm going to keep it goin!!!  I love that the radiologist guided you through the scan!  When there is any slight mm of change on sizing, they say it has to do w/different radiologists reading. They are never concerned so I totally think it's awesome!

Bosco...I had nodules too...no change from 2012-now....so they figure my lungs had inflammation & wrapped a little pkg around them.  I'm hoping the next scan shows healing & stable boy stays cozy!

Still hopeful and want to keep dancin!!!!

Terrij: just wondering about u going back to work...and then not being able to lift 50 lbs. I'm thinking about it messing up your short term disability by going back

Beatmom- Once I go back I won't have any restrictions. I'm just worried that I won't be able to handle the heavy lifting or possibly injure myself. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Mets in the CSF because I have double vision and some subtle droopy forehead, brow and nose on one side for about 6 weeks.Brain MRI was fine but I guess that doesn't completely rule mets out as a cause. They will also check for MS-wouldn't that be grand, to have 2 scary diagnoses instead of one! Trying very hard not to buy trouble and hoping it's all just a weird getting old thing.

Bosco, wishing you good results on your follow up MRI.

Carla, glad to hear the brain MRI was clear. Best of luck with the Pet scan and lumbar puncture. I'm one of those lucky enough to have the double scarey diagnosis of MS and Metastatic breast cancer, yep no fun at all, a real double whammy! Prayers for all to go well and good results.

    Hugs to all, Annie

Bosco, here's a comfy blanket while you're curled up on the waiting room sofa!

Carla, wishing you good results on your LP!

Annie, you're one tough cookie taking on both of these beasts!

I wish you all well my friends!

Carla, praying you never have to deal with MS or anything else on top of MBC, please keep us posted. I'm sending positive thoughts and energy your way.

terri, thank you, I'm not the only tough cookie around here, we all are! It's strange though when I was diagnosed with MS I thought that would be my challenge in life, never even considered there would be more, but here I am. Sometimes we have more than one cross to bear!

Hugs to all of you, Annie

I know what you mean Annie. Growing up I had epilepsy and was on medication until I was in my mid 20's. I was able to stay off of my meds with no seizure activity and thought that would be my challenge in life. No such luck!! I also deal with depression and anxiety that I've before my BC diagnosis.

    Stay strong ladies!

thanks for the comfy blanket terrij. Results of MRI confirmed PET. No new lesions, some activity in same area as previously so old lesion still active. But contained. I think that's pretty good . Seeing radio prof next week

Not such good news was platelets tanked again so just had transfusion. Think it may be linked to Zometa. Onc considering that.

Got home to find son had made chocolate chip cookies - and was prepared to share!

Hoping for good results for all waiting

Hooray Goodie and Bosco! My news is turning out good so far too-neg PET and so far the results from the LP look fine (although the main thing we're concerned about, cytology, won't be back until next week). I'm very relieved! Still seeing double and still losing weight though. Today I saw the lowest number yet on the scale-down 34 lbs this year. So I'm happy but still perplexed about what's going on :(

Bosco...Carla needs some cookies :-)  Carla....will be hoping cytology says good things all around!!!!   Wondering about weight...but I dropped 36 lbs on the first 6 months of chemo & stayed there until I went to just herc/perj.  I liked being thinner...but will take the 18# & hope to stay stable!!!

Bosco...will they keep tx the same?  Such good news no new mets...just wish the oldies would take a hike!  Tell DS I can send him my address :-).  Cookies make me very happy!!!

Annie...you're a rock star in dealing with 2 feared diseases & staying strong!!!

Love & hugs & hope to all!  I just got back from 8 days w/my son's fam in so Cal...I came back with a deeper tan, happy heart after seeing GD to first day of 2nd grade, and head lice....shit!  Sorry for language but seriously????  I was a school secretary who did lice checks for 9 years & had 3 kids who never got it.  Seems all GD's friends had it so par for the course!  They told me I could go to the salon (Picky Pam's...LOL) and it'd only be $120 since I have short hair!!!!  Guess I need to open a salon....HA!

Carla- great news about the preliminary LP results!

RonnieKay- glad you had a nice visit with your family, but the Lice thing puts a damper on it. I hope it's not the resistant type that's out there! A few years ago we were on vacation and my niece and her dad (my husband's brother) came to stay for a few days. The first day she was there I noticed she was scratching her head a lot, so I checked and she had a ton of lice that I could actually see the little buggers! I said she needed to go home, but was overruled by my husband and his family. Of course I had to treat her and luckily I didn't get it, but my daughter did. One vacation I'll never forget!

Oh yes, terri...there's a great (read: expensive) new, non-toxic shampoo for the resistant critters...that and a great (read:expensive) comb!  Totally worth it!

    Goodie...happy dancin!!!

I have my first set of scans, since being diagnosed, tomorrow night. I feel fine now but am sure I will want to throw up tomorrow. Ugh. Hugging myself because hugs heal. ha ha I will probably get some sort of results on Wednesday when I see my MO before chemo.
