This is really Muffet. Remember me? I haven't been here in so long that I forgot all my login info and had to register all over again. I am 4 and 1/2 years out and still doing well.

A friend of ours from years back is not. She was Pcoops on the boards. Her name is Paula. She survived breast cancer but got gall bladder cancer. She has not been doing well lately and has actually registered with hospice.

Please remember her in your prayers. She is a good, decent woman. The world needs more like her.

Muffet

I'm sorry to hear about this. Always saddens me when the beast gets somebody.

I don't know you.But it's nice to know you are 4 and a half years out and back to tell us about it.

Thanks because many of us (me included) need to hear this. I'm one year out and always worried!

I remember Paula from way back...I remember when she told us about the gall bladder cancer. if my brain is working right, it seems that her prognosis was bad when she first learned about the gall bladder CA? I have often wondered about her - and assumed the worst when she disappeared from the boards. Thank you for posting about her and I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers. I hope she has found a way to enjoy the time that she has had and she is surrounded by people who love her. Cathy

She has had some wonderful times. She went to Hawaii. She went to her husband's brother's wedding in Las Vegas. She visited her daughter in New Zealand. She is surrounded by family right now. She seems good. I just got an email from her, talking about her garden and how her daughters have to take care of it now. What a woman. She did aggressive therapy, and it worked.......for a while. She seems OK. I will let you know about her progress. Miracles do happen, but we all are used to the real world most of the time. Maybe this time it will happen. She's a lovely woman. And you are lovely women for caring about her.

It is with great sadness that I tell you that Paula Cooper died on January 3, 2007, as a result of gallbladder cancer. She recovered from breast cancer and was doing well until this horrible killer claimed her. It is only because of this board that I got to know her and love her. She will be missed by many. She had some wonderful times during the last years of her life, and every time I pick a ripe tomato from my garden, I will remember her.

    Glenda, aka Muffet

    COOPER, Paula Deger

Passed away on January 3, 2007, of gallbladder cancer. Paula was born August 1, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio, the fifth of eight children of the late Robert and Winifred Deger. With a degree in journalism and English, she worked at Dayton Newspapers, Inc. and later moved to Denver, CO where she was a feature writer for TheDenver Post. While in Denver, a young medical student, Robert (Robin) L. Cooper, moved into the apartment next door and they began a relationship which evolved into a 30-year marriage. The couple moved to Fairfield, CA and San Antonio, TX while her husband served in the medical corps of the Air Force. With their three young children, they moved to Spokane, WA in 1990 where her husband started a private medical practice. Wherever they lived, Paula was an active volunteer with her children's schools and sports activities and with the community and church. An avid reader and quilter, she loved her book clubs and quilt group. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, hiking and watching the Zags. She treasured her Texas Heartstrings friends, special neighborhood friends, as well as many friends in Spokane and throughout the country. During her illness, she appreciated the constant support of innumerable friends from every phase of her life. Paula is survived by her loving husband, Robin; and their three cherished children, Andy, Haley and Cassy. She is also survived by five brothers, Grant (Candice) Deger of Bellingham, WA, Rob Deger of Erlanger, KY, Ron (Joyce), Phil (Terri), and Doug Deger of Dayton, OH; and two sisters, Chris (Jack O'Brien) of Osprey, FL and Beth Deger of Springfield, OH. Memorial contributions may be sent to Catholic Charities, P.O Box 2253., Spokane, WA 99210 or Hospice of Spokane, P.O. Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210. AMemorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 12:30 pm at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 330 E. Boone. Private Inurnment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery 7200 N Wall. Oh Muffet I feel so sad. I posted many times to pcoops and was worried because I hadn't heard from her in so long. She was such a nice person--very caring and tried to be encouraging even though she was going through so much.

that is such a shame. i missed her when she dropped off of the boards after she started the chemo for the other cancer (or maybe she was already off of the boards, but that is when I stopped getting emails from her)...

    she was a lovely lady....

The last time I talked to her (via email on 12-29-06), she was happy that she was able to have conversations with her family that she said never would have happened, had she not been ill. She certainly went out with grace and dignity. It's just a shame that she had to go out at all.

I miss her, too. I will especially miss her in the spring, when gardening begins. We always talked about getting our gardens ready. And then we would talk about our harvests. And then we would trade recipes.

You know, time surely does fly. This time last year, Paula was cheering on Gonzaga in March Madness, in person. I'm sure she's smiling, watching them now.
