Hi Pat pleased you found us. Really nice people here to chat to about things that are going on. Also nice to share everyday things about family. Sorry about your friend but I think that many of us have had similar experiences when diagnosed.

Christ you makes feel lazy with all you do. Must go for a walk shortly as I have to get a bit fitter before we head off to the U.S. and Canada.

    Big hugs.

Hello all fellow older people. I am 77 and diagnosed a couple of months ago. Still waiting for my "team" to get every thing (meaning test) worked out and get the surgery scheduled. My next post should have the date. I am upholstering a bench for the foot of my bed, Chrissy. Your sofa looks great,

Welcome mamabex, and patdob, please chime in as often as you need. We are a fun and seasoned group.

Chrissy, wow you always impress me. Love the fuzzy pillows, too. l recovered a sofa years ago and told myself never again. But it was a big sleeper sofa.

Wren, I am taking quite a few pieces of furniture from this house to my renovated house. I have my couch and chair broken in just the way I like them.

I did fix up one seat cushion from a couch for a customer recently that had been badly mauled by a dog. And today at the dog park, someone approached me about recovering the head rests from their car, that their dog has chewed up. Ha ha we love our fur balls.

Chrissy, that looks great! Are you taking orders?? And welcome to Pat and Mamabex. This is a very caring place to be and I'm glad you found us.

I've been awol due to old and new heart issues. I've been in A-fib since late April and had successful cardioversion a week ago Wednesday. That's where the heart is shocked and hopefully goes back into rhythm. It's an outpatient procedure. Later that night I suddenly became very short of breath and we returned to the ER. Lungs had fluid, extremely breathless. I stayed in hospital until last Friday. I'll see the cardiologist again next week and hopefully will find out what caused this, which was diagnosed as heart failure. I was also on a new med which listed shortness of breath as a side effect (and am no longer on it). Through it all, my heart never returned to Afib.

Anyway, I'm back and doing well. Nancy, the house looks great! Chrissy, I'm getting excited for you. And Leah, I hope your dear rabbi is doing better.

Hi Mamabexar and welcome! Hard to be where you are at the moment but once you have all the information and a treatment plan in place it sort of gets easier........at least then you feel pro active.

What sort of stool are you upholstering? Thanks for the compliment on the couch cover........it's a long time since I did one.......lol......it's nit perfect but it sure looks better than the old cover.

Nancy, the couch I have done is a sofabed (equal to double in size) but thank goodness the next one is just a two seater. Isn't it strange how we love our well worn in chairs and sofas......lol. We get them just worn on to the right shape and then they fall apart........here's hoping your's last quite a few years yet.

Oh yes, if we didn't live the fur babies as much as we do the first piece of furniture they ruin they would be out the door!

Oh Kathy, so glad that the cardioversion has worked well for you but blimey girl, you've got to quit all this other stuff going on! It's a bit worrying not knowing what is the cause of the fluid buid up so I'm hoping they get to the bottom of it all soon. Good to hear that you are home and doing well.

Yes Leah, I do hope that your Rabbi is doing better.

Lisa, how is your arm? Have you decided to schedule surgery?

Well my car is all mechanically sound once again, thank you BIL for keeping the cost down for me. I had a great day with my sister while BIL worked his magic and it felt good to have a day to myself.

Two more days in the city and then home for two weeks doing the last minute things before boarding that plane for France.......can I just say that the excitement is building!

Take care all! Love n hugs. Chrissy

I have to chime in on fur babies destroying furniture. We have 3 labs/1 is pit/lab mix and he is the Dennis the Menace of the group. The oldest, nearly 6 and the dad, is out of the search and destroy stage but the pups, barely a year old, are a different story. Couch, ottoman, pillows, sheets, books, glasses, ornaments and on and on. We love them dearly but we have literally tried everything with our Dennis. He knows he shouldn't but does anyway. Fortunately we have a huge backyard so they have a place to play and we can de-stress when we leave the house.

People have told us to get rid of them? OMG no way. Obviously not dog lovers. So we will just complain and hope he grows out of it soon.

Welcome to the new ladies. I am 72 and am almost a 15 year survivor. I live in San Diego.

I wrote a whole long entry but it was lost. I am on my phone so will do it later when I am at my laptop.

Edwards I'm hearing you loud and clear on the love of the animal far out weighing anything that gets destroyed. .......things are replaceable but the love you get returned from your pet is not.

Lisa have the gremlins been playing with your computer again? Fancy them dropping this thread from you favs......the nerve!.......lol.

Well DH and I did our last trip to the city before we leave. We took our little dog down to my sister so we could let her keatn the layout of the house before we take her back for the duration of our trip. We left her there while we did a few last minute things to complete our travel plans and I know my DH was worried the whole time......lol. When we got back, Tink (the dog) was comfortably ensconced on BIL's lap watching tele........I am happy to report that she will do just fine while we are away.

Shopping etc is now complete gor the trip, there is only the task of packing to be done but that id something that will be done next week.

Take care all! Love n hugs. Chrissy

Chrissy, did you really write that????? I don't remember the last time a woman wrote that shopping was completed! And before you even get to Paris! Heck, what you just did was a practice run!

I am so happy to tell you that my Rabbi is getting better - slowly, but progressing. He is out of the ICU (was there for 9 days) and is off the respirator. He still has a long way to go but he's getting there.

Sometimes the things you really need get sent to you. This week is the toughest part of my currrent chemo and I am absolutel;y exhausted. I was wondering what in the world I would do about dinner when my friend called. She said that she was making tuna patties and would send some for us if we had potatoes she could use to make mashed potatoes with them, or she would send them tomorrow night after she goes shopping. YES! Come get the potatoes! So we had dinnter tonight. My friends are wonderful.

Leah, there is only so much you can fit in a suitcase...

Glad to hear your rabbi is better

On my arm, I see the trauma ortho surgeon on the 14th, but I really know I am going to have to have a rod put down my humerus. It is still really floppy and useless after six months, and still is painful...enough

Welcome to our new ladies..we are a good group. Old enough to know better than to do some unruly things..lol

Chrissy I know you will enjoy the trip even though the flight is a long one. Plenty of good wine and cheese in France to relax and enjoy the experience. We drove though much of it when we lived in Spain. Have a good time.

this ship they have been building in San Diego is a replica of the San Salvador that came into San Diego

harbor in 1524 . She was built with the same woods and everything..quite a feat. At any rate yesterday was her debut to lead the Festival of the Sail with a parade of tall ships into the bay.

Lol Leah, yes I really did say that. I am really a weird woman as I don't really like shopping at all and do it under sufferance.......anyway, what needs to be bought for the trip is now done but I am leaving a little room in the suit cases just in case I see something worth buying in France........lol.

I'm pleased to hear that your Rabbi is mending all be it slowly........any progress is good progress. Wow! What super friends! Having your dinner prepared is fantastic when you are under the weather and are not up to doing it yourself. There certainly are Angels out there just waiting for the call.

Lisa, those tall ships are gorgeous! They look so flimsy though and I would hate to have to go on the open ocean in one! It's hard to imagine that those little wooden ships crossed huge unknown oceans to discover new lands.......utterly amazing!

I have a rod in my arm as well because of the mets and I must say it was the most painful op I have ever had.........sorry to tell you that Lisa but it's better to know before hand. My doc down played the whole thing and I was so cross that he did..........the only good thing though is the pain settled fairly quickly and the bone was strong again. Here's hoping your visit with your doc goes well on the 14th and everything can be scheduled quickly as this has been going on way too long.

Just eight more days and we will be on that plane winging our way to France....woohoo!!!! Yes, I will share some pics as I have organised travel roaming for my phone. I am FB friends with most of you already but if you want to add me to your friends list just send me a request.......Christin Bout is my full name and my avatar is some crochet hearts.

I will of course have my good camera with me but I shoot in RAW and my little travel computer doesn't have enough memory or HD space to down load them so those pics will have to wait until I get home but I will also snap with my phone so I can share on the spot. My house is on the way to looking like home again as I get rid of the accumulated dust of 10 weeks away.........yes, yes, I know, it is going to me almost as bad again b y the time I get back but at least I will know I left it clean to begin with.......lol. My suitcase is almost packed, just a few of the last minute things to add........tomorrow I will start on my hubby's. Nothing like being organised but I'm sure I will find something to stress over before the week is out.

    Roll on Monday week!!!

Hi all you new girls!!! Hope you are managing all that you face and don't forget, we are hear even if you just want to say hi.

Love n hugs to all! Chrissy

Great you are almost on your way to France, we will just have to wait for the pix, darn..wish I could pack away in your suitcase.

Well ladies, I'm back minus a lump in right breast. I wound up switching surgeons in mid stream. The first one's office staff would not give me a date for surgery. Not sure why. Every thing went ok. Final path report soon.

I will post a picture of my bench soon. I like the way it turned out.

Hi MamaBexar, so glad the op went well for you. Wow! Having to change surgeons mid stream is not a good thing but boo to them for messing you around. Wanting that thing out of your body quickly is the norm and that surgeon's staff should have understood that.

Anyway, all done now and just the nervous wait for the results. Keeping my fingers crossed that they don't differ from the original.

Well, Chrissy is taking in all the sights in France. I am so happy she is enjoying it and can't wait for her to post some of the highlights for her..wishing her the absolute best trip ever.

We spent all day Friday doing the pre-op stuff for the Friday surgery. First time at the hospital and it seems very friendly. That is a good start..

Today we saw our granddaughter start the soccer season in 90+ heat..glad I was only watching. They are under 10 and have just so much to learn. Sometimes, I wish I were many many years younger and could coach her team. But those days are over.

I refereed soccer for twenty years and was curious to see how the refs were doing . Of course, these were the little kids so they don't even call off-sides.

Hi ya girls!! Yep, I'm certainly enjoying the sites, sounds, smells abd tastes of France. .......what a place!! Fantastic!

We spent three nights in Paris and traveled all over the place by Metro during the day. The architecture of Paris is amazing!

    image

This is the window/door from our room in Paris into a small private balcony.

    image

This is the view looking right from the balcony. .......so very typical of a lot of the buildings we saw in Paris on our wanderings.

We are now in Brive de Galliarde and have spent two nights already........where does the time go?....... just one more night before we pick up our car and start five weeks of wandering.

I have so many photos I wanted to share with you all but since the last lot of changes to BCO they take an age to load........I can't even just copy from FB either.......what a bummer! I'll definitely keep trying though.

Well time for me to hit the shower and then down to breakfast before we head off to explore once more.

    Love n hugs all!! Chrissy

Lisa there is no real plan as such but we passed through a town not too far from Brive that we would like to take a closer look at so that will be a starting point tomorrow once we pick up the car. After that we will be like a williw the wisp and go where ever the breeze blows us. We just need to be in Cahors on the 20th October to return the car and get the train back to Paris.

We are having a ball and as of this morning have decided to stay in the hotel we are at for the whole weekend. We are in the heart of the South West region of France where a lit of the pre-history things are, and that's what we intend to check out.

    Love n hugs all! Chrissy
