Hi, Jillybee. After my DIEP I had a persistent seroma in my abdomen. My plastic surgeon drained it with a needle many times but it always came back, big as ever. Eventually it encapsulated. He was worried it would become infected, and it was sloshy and a little annoying, so he excised the capsule in another surgery. This solved the problem for me. Gentle hugs back to you!

Sbelizabeth, sounds just like mine.I was opened up twice more on DIEP scar, still there, now to have drains and steroid injection....When I go back to see consultant I have so many questions.isn't it uncomfortable!!

My first surgery worked well, till the drains came out.Apparently the lower part of the capsulation has stuck to my bowel......the second time, blue dye was inserted, and leaks were cauterisedNow over a year since DIEP.....over 2 years since diagnoses!!!

    Hugs back....xx😉😉😉

I am having the exact same problem. They did a CT and it was found that I have pockets of fluid everywhere.  Just great...they don't want to do anything unless it starts to pose a problem.  I had two drained last year and now need to have another one done.

Can you tell me what they mean "when causing a problem "I am uncomfortable, and get heart burn....I wonder if that constitutes a problem ?
