Luttece, what a difficult decision you have. 20 certainly falls into a gray area. I was less fortunate to have a HER2+ aggressive tumor, but at least it made my decision much easier.

I don't know which direction you are leaning towards. I think an argument can be made for either case. I was terribly afraid to do chemo, but more afraid to not. Chemo is not pleasant, but not as bad as I thought it would be.

I see you asked a question about surgery. Just so you understand, if chemo is recommended, a more aggressive surgery does not change that recommendation.

The purpose of surgery is to prevent a recurrance in your breast only.

Chemo is a systemic treatment and its purpose is to eradicate any stray cancer cells that have already escaped the breast and are circulating through your body and could grow in your other organs. This can happen even if you are node negative.

The anti-hormone treatment you will be offered is also systemic and likely even more important than chemo to someone in your situation.

Some people really need to feel they threw everything they could at their cancer. Other people are comfortable knowing they were early stage and the odds are in their favor, even without chemo. Its a difficult & personal decision.  Good luck to you.

Hello, I had 2 primary IDC tumors. One had oncotype of 0 and the other had oncotype of 20. I refused chemo, relatively low potential benefit when compared to potential risks of chemo. No regrets.
