    Pattykd,

As my breast surgeon (BS) explained to me when I was first diagnosed, the stereotaxic biopsy just sampled the area, and further cutting would be necessary to clear the area. He had me do an MRI before hand to see if there was additional areas of concern (it was negative). My surgery found additional DCIS near the biopsy spot. I was a candidate for rads, but I chose BMX because I was 64 at dx with diabetes and known heart disease. I figured I was healthy enough for surgery or any other treatment, but might not be in the future if I developed more BC. Plus, I didn't want to live with the uncertainty. The bx that found the BC was the forth one I had had in the previous 10 years, and I felt I was playing Russian roulette with my breasts.

Hope my history helps you. Just take it in steps which will help it not be so overwhelming.

If I had been younger, without major chronic diseases, I might have chose differently.
