Hi mye,
My BMX w/tissue expanders is scheduled for September 14th. Like you I visited the shopping/packing to do list toniget and have some shopping to do and rearranging things at home. It seemed like a long time when the doctors office called but it's like yikes it's in 3 weeks.
Hi to everyone who is having sugary this month...where did my 3 weeks go now it's down to 10 days and I'm not ready. Update to my surgery according to the PS he plans on doing immediate reconstruction with implants instead od tissue expanders so one less severe for me hopefully.
-
Hi Xjerseygrl, Welcome!
Yikes is right! And I still haven't decided which doctor team to go with which is what I need to do in the next couple days. That is why the date hasn't been set yet. It will be Sept. 15th or 16th. The reason why I haven't chosen is because the PS that I really want to go with does not use the Seri Scaffold alternative to the Alloderm which I'd really prefer.
-
Hello mye and Xjerseygrl!
My surgery is September 16th. We're all so close. I'm having BMX as well, but direct to implant on the day. No tissue expanders. Tomorrow I was meant to have my pre-op appt with my PS, making all the big decisions finalizing implants etc. But I received a phone call today saying they just got my blood work in and my white cell counts are too low. They are postponing my appt. so to redraw my blood in a few weeks time to see if the count has risen. If not we'll need to postpone surgery. Wow. I've never had a low white cell count before that I'm aware of. So here's to my white cells increasing over the next few weeks...
So many twists and turns in this journey, aren't there?? Thanks for starting this September group mye!
-
Hi Dawn! Glad you found us :-)
Sorry about your white blood cell count. Did they give you any tips how to get them back up? For me it's my red blood cells that are low from neoadjuvant chemo. My acupuncturist suggested I make bone broths and in general eat foods high in protein, B12 and folate. I wonder if that applies to WBC too. Good luck and keep us posted!
-
Hi ladies, may I join you? My UMX with TE has been rescheduled to 9/4. Due a problem with the OR I got bumped yesterday.
-
Hi, sisters. Having left breast lumpectomy on 9/2. Must have lymphoscintigraphy for most of the morning to see if I have any sentinel nodes. I had malignant melanoma on my left arm in 1972 and they took most of my lymph nodes at that time. Surgery is not until 2 pm and I have to be at the hospital at 7 am. A long day for sure, but more so for hubby who will be waiting around. Just anxious to get on with it and get into the "solution". Love this forum and wishing us all speedy recoveries.
-
Hi all. I'm tentatively scheduled for right MX either the 17th or the 22nd. There have been delays due to changes in treatment plan and the surgeon getting sick, so hopefully it wont be any longer than that.
I know my BC is ER+/PR+/HER2- from the biopsy, but the size, stage and grade are up in the air until after the surgery. I also don't know what the surgeon's exact plans are since I haven't been able to see her. Always waiting, waiting, waiting.
I am optimistically joining this group, hoping there will be no more delays!
-
Hi. My BMX with expanders is scheduled for September 16th and I am starting to fell very nervous about it all!! How is everyone feeling at this point? I need to get myself organized and maybe that will help me feel a little better. Any tips anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
-
Hi solfeo and cckutzler71, nice to meet you. If you update your profile with your diagnosis and treatment and change the settings to public it's easier for everyone to respond to your situation.
Cckutzler71, I understand that nervous feeling. I am scheduled for the 4th for my umx with TE. Since my surgery was supposed to be last week I am already packed for the hospital but now I have to scrub the house again and stock up on groceries. There is a thread at the top of the forum that gives tips for packing and preparing for surgery.
-
solfeo, I hope you get your date confirmed soon.
-
I am scheduled for UniMx on October 7th. I completed chemo 3/16/15. I had LX 5/22/15. Refused RX. Can I please join this thread?
Thank you!

Thanks Molly50. I had a backup plan for a different surgeon but I just found out I will have to wait even longer for her. So many roadblocks. Fortunately the original surgeon did confirm the 22nd today, so I'm actually booked as long as something else doesn't happen in the meantime.

Hi all, I could sure use some sisterhood today. Had a lumpectomy on Monday, My main, known tumor, had clean margins, but BS found a second IDC lesion (2mm) surrounded by almost 3cm of DCIS, so those margins are not clean. I had an augmentation in 2007 so don't have a lot of real tissue to work with in trying to get a clean margin (which is directly between my nipple and my implant). The question on the table for me now is do I go back for a re-excision not knowing how much more tissue she will need to take in order to get a clean margin and then face RT with such thin breast tissue that I risk compromise to my implant. What she tells me is that if the implant breaks through due to the radiation, no way will I be able to have "classic" reconstruction, I'd be looking at some kind of TRAM flam procedure. My other option is to just be done with it and have the MX, no radiation, and the traditional reconstruction. I don't want to lose my breast if I can help it but I certainly don't want to risk my chances of having a successful reconstruction. The reality of it is I'll be living with a radiated, post reconstructed breast (that won't feel "normal") or a post-mastectomy reconstruction (that won't feel normal either). Is anyone out there in the same type of situation?
-
Hello jdekeyser66, ra1950, Molly50, cckutzler71, Solfeo, PMR53, I am glad you found us! Welcome! I have added you to the list above.
-
Thank you, mye!
-
jdekeyser66, Although I do not have an implant I am in a similar situation. I went in for a lumpectomy 7/29 and in addition to my 2.1 cm tumor I have lymph vascular invasion which is a mixture of IDC and DCIS. She only got clean margins in two areas. The other two were close even with the excision she did during the Lx. So the BS told me I need a mx. I am going in on 9/4 for a Umx with TE for later reconstruction after other Tx of chemo and probably rads. I am actually okay with this plan even though it means I lose my nipple. I would rather deal with it now than risk it coming back because of the near margins.

Jdekeyser66-

Morning everyone! Molly50-I'll be in surgery at the same time.
I'm not up on all the terms yet-whoops-But I've decided on a bi with delayed DIEP flap reconstruction after rad's. Nervous.
-
I saw an abbreviation listing here once. Anyone know where that is? Can you post the link?
-
-
Thank you Queen!!
-
You're welcome--it's also linked to/with the blue button above. But never too many mentions of where to find the abbreviations!

Hi. I guess I am one of you ( stage 3a). My surgery (BMX modified radical on Left and simple on right) is scheduled for Sept 10th, with TE placement on Sept 17th. I am really getting nervous about this. I need to update my profile, but this is also my first post. I really hope everything goes really good for all of you. How do you update your profile?
Updated my profile, thank you for your welcome.
-
Welcome Beatlebear! So sorry you need to be here but glad you posted. To update your profile go to the top of the page, click on My Profile. Fill in what you know and make your diagnosis and treatment public.

Hi all! I was supposed to have a UMX with stacked DIEP reconstruction on 8/26, but that fell through, sadly. So now I am scheduled for a mastectomy tomorrow, 9/1 (eeeeek!) and reconstruction a week later (9/8).
-
I will be praying for you, 39andhip.
-
Hi all...joining your club. Having lumpectomy with sentinel node biopsy on Friday 9/4. Felt calm and collected this last week, knowing that there is a plan in place for surgery. Starting to get edgy, though, knowing that after surgery comes more uncertainty/waiting: node positive/negative? clean margins? oncotype? chemo or just radiation? More surgery?
Deep breaths...
-
Hi Upstater15-
We want to welcome you to our community here at BCO, and wish you luck on your surgery on Friday. We'll be thinking of you, please let us know how you're doing!
