cowgal- Thanks- we all have to live w/that possibity and always choose to hear about the 60- 70-80% who get no recoccurance rather than the alternative. Do it now ladies, reduce weight and block those buggar hormones. I am working on it more than ever - think , veggies, veggies, veggies- ha. A good addition of plenty vitamin C a good addition too!

Ditto, GrammyR. That must have been really disheartening. I hope the radiation really did a number on the cells.

I'm still new to this and finding my way around after I managed to somehow concur the panic. I do not know if it is good but I'm reading everything about BC and getting more confused at times. I've read a post about cosmetics. Please advise me what chemicals should I be avoiding, any suggestion on what brand is best? Thanks

Trvler, hello. Our diagnosis is similar. What makes you think the cancer was present for 20 years?

    Hoping your are well.

sigh. I must admit I haven't changed my diet at all. I'm too overwhelmed with chemo. I adore dairy...what is the issue with dairy? And cosmetics? I never wore makeup until after my diagnosis because the steroid acne is so bad. And shampoo? Where does one g to learn all this stuff?

tresjolie - dairy is the product of a lactating animal and thus hormone laden. I think most of us work on cleaning up our diets after we're done with chemo - it's too hard during and you just need to eat what works for you. If you are interested in changing your cosmetics/lotions/shampoo you can look at the linked site. You can search individual products by brand name if you want to know about what you're currently using, or you can look up other brands, or look up a category - like lipstick. Avoidance of parabens, carcinogenic ingredients, irritants, etc. is the goal.

Maria: I guess maybe it hasn't been there for 20 years but I had a mammogram in the exact same spot when I was 30 because I felt pain there. I have breast implants so it has always been hard to see anything on a mammogram. I just find it awfully coincidental.

Tresjolie2- Yep.milk was hard to quit but I have found the unsweetened almond milk tastes closest for me. Food store chain milk is full of hormones- not even good for kids to drink. Cheese has been tough too but its a gradual change that worked for me. Go organic if possible. I still like my feta cheese occasionally.Ice cream I admit to cheating once in a while.During chemo though eat whatever you feel like to give you more energy. I had a low BP most of mine so pushing fluids helped. Big hugs to you.

I changed to follow mainly a vegetarian diet, but with fish and chicken. I've cut out dairy, sugar, red meat, refined carbs and alcohol. I think its really important to get your hormones back in check, and all of those things mentioned above seem to play havoc.
