Did anyone not take steroids before chemo?

I am supposed to start chemo Monday. That was dependent on my incision (that got infected) sealing and being closed. Its sat night and its not closed. I don't think it will be closed on monday. I am to go to the appointment no matter what and then the oncologist will decide to proceed or send me home. So seeing its not closed and probably won't be closed, do I take the steroids tomorrow?

If I don't take them will I regret it? Be sicker if they decide to do it? Or do I take them regardless? I just thought of this today and cannot ask anyone before tomorrow... so not sure what to do... Thanks for any info...

    Are you sure there's no doctor on call at your oncologist's practice? You might try calling tomorrow and telling the service that you are a patient who needs to speak with the on-call person.

    You should be able to call the Facility any time or day. I never needed to call my Facility but one of the Chemo Drs was available 24/7 for questions/problems.

    personally, I'd take the steroids anyway. Better to have them and not need that than need them and not have them.

    I took them! I found the on call number and it is soooooo close to being closed. A lot of progress though the night. There is just a tiny bit of drainage so it was agreed the better safe than sorry was the way to go and its not a damaging drug or anything so its not a big deal if I take them and it doesn't happen. Thanks all... looks like tomorrow should still be day 1.
