Hi guys, I need some assistance. I had a lumpectomy about 4 weeks ago and invasive cancer removed, however they found widespread dcis so I need a mastectomy. Im 43 live alone and very worried about my body image. I saw the plastic surgeon yesterday and he is ok to do the diep , I know the risks etc but I believe these are low. I need some proper experience. If I have the implant Im worried in a nice low cut dress I will look false one side. If I could have a double mx I would but this is not an option in the UK. Im then worried if I get dcis in the other side Ill have this all to face again or an implant anyway. My dcis could not all be seen on a mammogram so how do I know if its present in the other side, MRI is not offered here either unless a certain type of cancer. There is no evidence I have it in ok side from my mammogram but I don't trust anything anymore. My head is spinning with decisions. My poor mum has to look after my dogs while Im in hospital and help me when out of hospital too. I just want to look as normal as possible, if that makes sense. Other thing is my surgeon told me they cut round my "orio" as I call it lol, but some pictures ive seen they have cut a massive flap they covers the breast......Ill ring my breast nurse and the help lines later but need hands on advice or comments.

I must say Diep was a difficult recovery but I had BMX. Maybe not so difficulty for one side. I feel I had a good and natural looking result. I would recommend that you look at pictures of both to imagine what would be best for you to live with. Wishing you lots of luck.

My one side diep was a good surgery. Relatively minimal pain.
