I'm due to start chemo on 9/3 at the Dubin breast center at Mount Sinai in NYC, until approx 11/5. I'm considering using the cold cap and wanted to ask if anyone would be interested in sharing the cold caps and costs?

Sorry you have to go through chemo and welcome to BCO.

I used cold caps successfully and hope you can as well. However, it's my understanding that you do not own the cold caps, therefore will pay to rent. I don't see a scenario where the company would allow you to share them with another person. I believe they would charge full rent to another person. The caps are constantly "recycled" and refrozen and then used again by either you or other client's. I hope this makes sense. Good luck.

Thanks for your response Amy and good to hear that it worked for you! I spoke with someone who shared the caps earlier this year at the Dubin. The company rented them to one person but they organized a share themselves with another patient who paid half the monthly rental cost. They organized their treatments on different days of the week and each paid a cap technician for the days of their treatment.

The sharing really only works if the two patients are starting chemo on a similar date and for the same duration. I'd be really interested if I could find a chemo buddy to partner with me on this!

That makes sense...I do hope you can find someone because it is quite costly but in my opinion, well worth the expense.

Try posting this on the cold cap thread- search for "cold cap users past and present". That's where a lot of potential cold cap users would be reading. You'll also find a lot of support and tips on the thread. I used cold caps successfully two years ago and was so happy to keep my hair.
