Anyone else have problems following surgical biopsy?

Good morning!

I had a surgical biopsy performed on 07/24/2015 with benign results (flat epithelial atypia, fibrosis, cysts, adenosis, microcalcifications, apocrine metaplasia and usual ductal hyperplasia, columnar cell change, small papilloma).  The incision site healed nicely with no complications.  But now, some weeks post-op, I'm still having soreness radiating to my armpit (which I've read can be normal) and most recently blood/pus discharge from the nipple.  While showering yesterday, I noticed what I'd describe as a "bulge" underneath my breast and you can feel it moving upwards and into the center of my breast.  It's narrow - like a vein - and tender to the touch.  No fever or redness.  I wasn't sure who to call - my breast surgeon or ob/gyn.  Has anyone else experienced anything like this following a biopsy?  Or could it be something totally unrelated but just happens to be the same breast?

Any thoughts or ideas appreciated!  :)

Your breast surgeon is the follow-up person you'll need. Possibly you have a collection of fluid that he needs to evaluate.

Yes I would call your doctor. I didn't have those issues, just soreness and pain after. I may have felt back to normal in that area after a month. Like I felt pulling and some pains, which the doctor told me it was tissue and nerve endingsgrowing back. Never had anything else. I hope you get some answers and feel better soon.

    Thanks for the replies!

I saw my surgeon this afternoon and she said that whatever blood/pus discharge coming from my nipple could have been residual fluid from the biopsy but isn't present now. The "bulging vein" under my left breast is just that - a bulging vein attributed to Mondor's disease which can occur following trauma to the breast, in my case the surgical biopsy. Instructed to treat with round-the-clock Ibuprofen and a heating pad when possible and it should resolve on its own.

There is an illustration on this related link should anyone find this information useful following surgery (mine involves "vein B"): http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1087099-overview
