edited August 2015 in Waiting for Test Results

Back in June 2014 I had a breast augmentation done (not cancer related) about a week after the surgery I noticed a lump right below my areola. It was hard bean shaped and felt smooth to the touch. In Aug 2014 I went in and had a Mam/us done I was told that it was a Bi rads 3 and to come back in 6 months. I went to see a Breast Specialist in November and they refused to biopsy it they laughed it off saying that it was most definitely Benign because I was only 30 and no Breast Cancer in my family. I went back in Feb 2015 and had a follow up ultra sound and was than told that it was Benign and classified this as a Bi rads 2. They told me just to come back in 6 months just for my own piece of mind because of my anxiety. I asked for a biopsy and the radiologist refused. I went in again 6 months later (Aug 2015) and had a third ultrasound now I have a Bi rads 4b classification with internal vascularity and not defined margins, I saw it and it looked like a puzzle piece on the ultrasound scree. I just had a FNA done last Friday and the fluid that came out was bloody.Im not sure what to do I know for sure that it is cancer and I am so pissed of at the system I wanted this lump biopsied a year ago and now it is probably spread.

Krista, I'm sorry your concerns weren't addressed seriously by your doctors. I am still fairly new to my diagnosis, so I can't offer any advice about your symptoms, other than to say I know most biopsies come back as benign. Sending positive thoughts for benign results for you. Waiting is the worst. Hang in there!

If it is invasive do you have to have your breast removed or is it possible to only have a Lumpectomy. I was speaking to the navagator today and she said since I had a FNA they wont know what stage it is.

Take a deep breath, Krista: it's absolutely normal to be terrified at this point! Waiting really is the worst part, but to answer your immediate question above--invasive breast cancer does not automatically mean a mastectomy! As you see, Tam-iam didn't. (I'm in another category entirely.)

Has anyone had similar characteristics like it having i internal vascularity and bloody fluid being withdrawn during the FNA and it not being cancer? Can a benign tumor do this If not I dont understand why they have it as Bi rads 4b (50% chance) when they should be 4c.
