Surgery Tomorrow...nervous

My lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy are tomorrow. I'm mostly nervous about the wire localization since I'll be awake for that. I'm not sure what to expect in terms of how I'll feel post surgery. Trying to keep myself busy...this is going to be long day

Sending lots of love, prayers & hugs your way. I didn't have lump, I had bmx with sentinel node. Try and enjoy your day and remember this is just another step in the process. Stay strong.

    Hugs

Ltam, I had LX w/ sentinel node biopsy. It was preceded by the wire localization. I did not find the wire insertion painful. They numb the area and while a little "pinch" when they do that, it was no worse than the numbing before a diagnosing biopsy. If you're squeamish, just look away and try to think of something pleasant--visualize yourself in your favorite place.

I had little pain post surgery. Ask lots of questions so you're not left wondering after you go home. I was sent home in a stretchy breast binder they provided to keep everything in place (quite comfy actually and I used it in the following days instead of a bra). Just take it easy after the surgery, rest and eat nutritiously, and you'll be on the go within days. Keep busy today and try to sleep only at your normal times. Best wishes and let us know how you're doing.

    Hi Ltam:

Good luck! I agree the wire placement was not too bad. I looked away at the nice pictures they had. The nurse was very supportive during the procedure. My tidbit of advice: Wear a ponytail holder if your hair is not short.

thank you all for your responses! I'm Home already. It wasn't as bad as I expected at all! Now just have to play the waiting game (again) for results. Always the hardest part!

Glad your surgery is done and you're home again. Just don't do too much too soon! Rest and try not to worry about the results. I hope and pray they come in earlier than expected and they are the best news possible. Take care and keep us updated.
