It has been 16 calendar days since the biopsy and 11 days since I received the original pathology report that showed the HER2 equivocal result with FISH test pending.

solfeo, looks like the literature says 6-10 days. Have you called your onc or whomever ordered the FISH for you?

The test wasn't ordered by the doctor who originally ordered the mammo/US, it was supposed to just happen when the HER2 test was equivocal following the biopsy. The pathology report says it's still pending, and both my doctor and I have been given incorrect information on the phone and have been sent and re-sent the same incomplete report. There is some kind of problem in the pathology department at the hospital. I'm seeing the surgeon tomorrow and she will have to take care of it before we proceed. I hope we don't have to start over because they "misplaced" something. There have already been so many unnecessary delays.

    Thanks for the reply.

The surgeon got a hold of the final report which apparently was on file when they were telling me and the doctor it wasn't. So just communication errors. FISH 1.1 Negative.

It was a big relief. I kept bracing myself for the bad news to keep on coming, and that was a nice break. Also eases my mind a bit about metastasis, although I know it's still possible. Guess I'll know that next week when I have my scans. Will just keep reminding myself that I expected it to be HER2+ (because my aunt's BC was), and I was wrong. I have never liked being wrong much before but I'm turning over a new leaf.
