Re lotions - my RO said any water-soluble lotion is okay, as long as you use it three times a day and slather it on...so that it remains white. I think I'll check out Amazon for some Aquaphor and a frog togg. I love this place for ideas!! I did buy some Jergen's aloe lotion which is lovely, and have been using it to get my skin ready. Hopefully I will be able to start rads on Monday, after having the start date postponed four times so far. A lot depends upon this headache situation.

omg...you guys are cracking me up at times....
at least i know i'm not alone in the "pee" issues.
-
My eyebrows seem to be trying to come back!! I have some tiny white hairs AND some tiny dark brown ones! And a def. dark area on my face where they should be.
(still tired of spending HOURS looking in the mirror!)
-
I'm getting every-other-day bolus with no discernible negative skin effects. I do have a weird blister that the nurse says isn't typical, on an area where a sim sticker caused dermatitis. She gave me Hibiclens to use if it breaks, but said to continue Aquaphor and Miaderm. I added a little Neosporin. It seems to be resolving without breaking. That spot should only get 3 more radiation doses.
Aquaphor and Miaderm don't seem to need "slathering." A light layer, applied 4 times a day (Miaderm) and once a day (if needed, Aquaphor), is doing for me.

One does one get emu oil???
-
(Meant where does one get emu oil?)
-
Amazon, or a natural foods place.

Had visit with MO today. My WBC was 1.1, so they have postponed deportation until next Thursday, and simulation will be rescheduled also. I knew that was a risk in not taking the Neulasta shot, but it was worth it. I'm not happy to delay the start of rads, but if I need more time, I'll take it. Cut off is 1.5, so I'm not THAT far off.
She didn't know what was causing my edema, but prescribed a diruetic. I will start it tomorrow as I need 6 hours of near the toilet time when I take it.
She did not clear me to go back to work, and she thinks I need to stay out through radiation, which is a surprise to me. Not sure how I feel about that. I have a meeting scheduled with my manager for next Tuesday, and I guess I'll discuss options with him.
I had an AEWSOME lunch with Lorraine, aka Positive Spirit. The first IRL meeting of any of the April Chemosabes! I think she got the better pictures on her phone, so I'll let her post them. I am seriously planning on signing up for the retreat: http://www.bjbbreastcancerretreats.org/content/2015-fall-retreat-october-2-4 My only conflict would be that I'd have to have my rads on the 2nd before I could travel. Anyone else want to join us?

Andrea: Sure hope the headaches resolve. When do you have your MRI? Super cute those grand kids!!!
Lynne: Oh the beach sounds wonderful! How was the Dr. today?
Princess: I have the same white fuzz and I'm just letting everything come in right now and wait. It is going to test my patience as I just want hair really, really bad, as we all do. I'm tired of hats, scarves and wigs but I also hate my head bare. Errrgggghhhh
Lots happening in my world. My step father-in-law has been ill with Parkinson's and it has been rough for my mother-in-law the past few years as he has been home bound. He took a turn for the worse with pneumonia and it just is not looking good. We are an extremely close family and they are 6 hours away in St.L. So unplanned road trip for the weekend. My son, who lives with them, is the only other relative around. And this is hard as I have to be back Monday for Dr. appointments and my husband has his busy work season right now as an equipment operator. Hoping the good Lord takes him peacefully as he has been through more than any human should. He has been such a wonderful presence in our lives, strong work ethic, veteran, and great sense of humor. Especially close to my son who grew up seeing him daily and has helped my mother-in-law take care of him the past 3 years too.
Looking forward to my rads meeting next week to compare skin care notes with all of you. Wishing everyone low side effects and restful summer nights.
-
Renee, sorry about your FIL. I think the losses hit us harder now. Life is so fragile.
-
Renee, a big gentle hug. I'm sorry your family is going through this. You must be so proud and reassured with your sons help.
-
Lynne, why won't he clear you to return to work with rads? I was sure I would be able to do that, but maybe I should submit my Long-Term DB papers just in case.
Renee - prayers for your step father-in-law.
-
Renee- prayers for your family.
-
I finally have a date to get these damn breasts off me!! Sept 21st gonna take it easy and enjoy life for a while before the big surgery..also had a brain mri today I requested and it was clear wohoo
-
Renee, I'm so sorry to hear about your father in law. He sounds like he is a wonderful man!
Slv, I believe one squeezes an Emu LOL...Its just schmaltz. I be you could get the same from a roast chicken..
Miaderm. Nectar of the gods. Gotta amazon some of that dope!
Steph! Yay clear brain!!!!! Booooo Boobies! Are you doing recon? Life flat ain't bad- I can see my abs LOL
Andrea- ooofda. I hope hope hope your headaches get fixed soon!
GKO- another next week rads sister! Good idea about sealing the skin- wonder if it would help with sweat? I'm worried about chafing the little dog ear on my side, which is so gross and i want the damn thing cut off, but that's a whole nother issue.
Lynne! Yay for meeting Positive in real life! At least we get awesome friendships out of this...
My RO didn't say anything against deodorant, lotion, anything before treatment. I think i'm gonna be careful though- no deodorant on that side. I wonder if having a tattoo on that shoulder is going to mess things up? Grrrrf. Hopefully all will be made clear on Monday. FUCANCER! I want my damn life back!!!!!! Sorry, sometimes my inner monologue gets away from me...
Ok, i really must suck at eyebrows. Today some lady I have never talked to before at work tracked me down and said I looked like I needed a hug. Very sweet- but really???? I think I need to bite the bullet and go to Macys and get some help. Also, my tech keeps staring at me..She finally said its because my natural sunscreen makes me so pale she keeps checking to see if I'm about to pass out. Gahhh. The only way to win is to out live them. Oh well, what can you do but laugh?
-
Renee, I'm sorry to hear about your FIL and I'm wishing you all peace.
Steph, the bilateral was probably the easiest part of this whole shebang.
Littleblue, we need tattoo photos if we're to assess accurately. Meanwhile, don't apply lotion, etc. within 2 hours before radiation, and ask your RO about deodorant/antiperspirant. I get up early to exercise, shower, and lotion up outside the 2-hour window for my morning appointment.
-
Hahaha, its very biker. I was working on my sleeve when my boob exploded. Pics to follow..
-
Eagerly awaiting.
-
-
Very nice! So what's the planned sleeve?
-
well now I'm gonna have to wait 5 years...sigh. now I want to take it down to my elbow with a coyote and a yew tree...pulling in all my protective spirits so to speak.
-
you have to wait 5 years for a tattoo? I want to get a survivor tattoo somewhere on my foot or wrist maybe. My husband is getting a pink ribbon on his forearm
-
I was told 5 years on the bad side...also I'm worried about lymphedema. On the good side I'd imagine whenever your blood is back to normal
how do you want your survivor tat to look? I may switch sides and get my ink done this year or next...
-
Oh i see that makes sense..I'm not sure yet something simple a small ribbon with survivor under it I just feel this bond with other women diagnosed with this disease nowand I feel so proud of everything I have faced and overcame
-
i am at a total loss at the moment...
i have just found out my mom was just diagnosed with IDC. She finally went and had genetic testing since mine were all negative and BC doesn't run in the family and we are still waiting for those results, and she went for her regular mammo yesterday and didn't like something....and did a biopsy an hour later and today she is told its IDC, early stage and needs an mri and a surgeon...
i have a lumpectomy scheduled for monday and thought my weekend was totally planned out and now i just don't know what to do....
-
ankledolphin I am so, so sorry. I can only imagine the shock this is for your entire family. Praying for strength for all of you.
-
Ankle - I'm so sorry. What a bizarre coincidence. The good news is it's early stage, and she will do fine. I pray that you all get through the stress of this. HUGS!
-
omg. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom ankle. You must be in complete shock. 😓please keep us posted. We r here for you.
-
so sorry ankle something similar happened to my mother and I she was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer last February I was diagnosed almost exactly a year later she is doing well now had radiation and we have an unbreakable bond we have always been close this has just brought us closer I get genetics done next month but I think it's just a coincidence there is no history of breast cancer in my family at all well wishes to you and your mo
-
Renee - my thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
ankledolphin - so very sorry for the double trauma.
My son and I had a wonderful time with Lynne today. Thank you for your generosity, welcoming us, and if only you knew what a fantastic woman you are. You do so much; your kids are gorgeous and so are you!
