Biopsy results due mon/tues for mass in duct.... confused!

I've had on going breast problems for a year now. My nipple started to retract and then developed thickened tissue/ lump under areola with skin changes.

As I'm 26 I had a ultrasound 4 weeks ago which showed a dilated duct with debris. Yesterday I had a follow up ultrasound and it showed the duct had changed and had a solid mass in it so they done a biospy and results are due monday/ tuesday.

Would the breast clinic be annoyed if I called them to ask what was actually seen on the ultrasound and ask them what this could possibly mean? Or have any of you ladies had a similar experiance?

    I wouldn't care if the clinic was annoyed - I would call to try to get some kind of reassurance.  Good luck.  Hopefully it is nothing.

    CG, it is no fun waiting, for sure. The best thing you can do is try to take your mind off of things while you wait for the report. I know, what a dumb thing to say, but nonetheless, try--keep busy, binge watch TV, be good to yourself by getting a pedicure, etc. If it ends up being benign, you will have had unnecessary stressful days. If it is something, there's plenty of time to worry later.

    A pathologist is the person reviewing the biopsy, and will determine if it is cancerous or benign. The ultrasound is a screening tool, so if something looks suspicious, then a biopsy is ordered. That said, most biopsies come back negative, so having one does not make you an automatic candidate for cancer.

    You can call to have a better explanation of your ultrasound, which is good to have. They most likely aren't going to give you a hypothetical diagnosis, but rather defer to the biopsy for a result.
