Tumor response and edema

Her 2+. I just completed 6 rounds of taxotere, carboplatin, Herceptin and Perjetta. The new imaging results show that the tumor shrank slightly but that there is edema and possibly a new mass. Has anyone else had a similar response. I'm waiting on more info from my surgeon at this point but I'm nervous, to say the least. The thought is that the mass could be scar tissue....

    Hi fragmomma and welcome to our community. What is the doctor suggesting to do regarding the edema. Where is it? What kind of testing are they recommending for the mass? Please keep us posted!

    Hi Fragmomma,

    Are you saying you had edema before surgery? I have the same thing. It's not terrible, but there is a little swelling in my right arm (I have tumors in my right breast and my right lymph nodes). My oncologist has not recommended anything specific for this, but I did find a lymphadema-certified PT and I am trying to get some sessions with her. A couple of things I learned off the bat: some weightlifting and weight-bearing exercises might not be such a good idea for the area where you have some edema. Also, lowering your salt consumption may help.
