Leigh, you are amazing!! I can't believe you can still do that CF. I couldn't do it when I wasn't on chemo.

I did Jazzercise today. Woke up at 5 am because of the damn steroids but hopefully, I will get a lot done today. I kind of want steroids all the time. SO much more productive. :)

Theresa: Just ordered Swatto! Also, another fun thing is the tie not water balloon thing. But your grandkids might be too young for water balloons. My pediatrician told me that he had a kid once inhale a balloon as a small child and was in a permanent vegetative state for life. I didn't let my kids near a balloon until they were like 8 because I was so freaked out.

Yeah, no balloons yet. Worst thing they've eaten so far is play doh lol. But I think every kid does that.

I'm telling you, that Swatto game is hilarious. Only thing I wish is I could get more flies since it comes with 15.

After a 2 day slugfest/pity party I went back to the gym today. 30 min of cardio. Going to try to take a walk tonight when/if it cools down. It's going to be 100+ through Sunday : (

Also started doing some juicing (thanks, Katy) - which is good since when it's super hot I don't eat so much.

Hi all: Just home after five days on the road for my nephews wedding. I did get in one two mile hike while I was gone, up at Lake Tahoe, and spent some time running after my two grandchildren....but also did a lot of exercise of the sit around and chat type. And I do need to go back to eating better...it was a carb heavy trip! (fun though!)

Congrats to kbeee on finishing chemo and thinking of you, rain on the scan results. Back to the routine for me!

Eileen, when I really didn't feel like eating, I put some whey protein power in my juice concoction and whisked it in. A little lumpy sometimes, I was too lazy to juice AND use the blender, but it turned it into a satisfactory meal. As my gramma used to stay, it stuck to my ribs.

You are all an inspiration to me.

Today I walked 3 miles and did my 1-hour Body Pump class at the gym.

Hot as blazes and humid again. 3.5 miles, started quickly and s-l-o-w-e-d down near the end. But glad to have done it!

    Good for you both!!!

I am waiting for the cable guy Hahaha! That's my excuse. They make you sit and wait all day as everyone knows. But Jack and I did a therapy dog visit at a Lifecare place today and it was wonderful. Did my soul good and got about 1,000 steps.

Power line is out! Yea! Not too bad with the shots, but certainly not fun. Walking into operating room and climbing on the table was my exercise today. Took a nap.

24.6 miles, 1565 feet of climbing, 1,000 calories burned. And in a two way tie for a short segment for first place lol. I think it's because nobody rides that section of road, but it is on the way back to my office

4 miles for me today and the fitbit says I almost got my 10,000 steps in. I've got laundry going in the basement so I think ill get there. That's the goal that was programmed into the thing and since I don't hit it every day I thought I'd keep it set at 10,000 steps for awhile.

Is anyone else using the app to log food and count calories? This is actually the first time I've ever counted calories and it's made me so mindful about what I'm eating and whether or not it's worth the calories. I know fat and carbs figure in too but since I'm generally trying to eat super healthy stuff I hope I'm lowering my fat and carb intake overall.

Rainy- every time I read your posts I want to get back to NYC for a visit. All the access to great food and produce and variety around every corner. I used to visit every year when my bff lived there. Haven't been back since hurricane Sandy when I worked at an emergency animal shelter in Brooklyn for a couple of weeks.

Susan-I hope you're feeling much better and counting down to the end of rads. I shopped for a bevy of moisturizers tonight at whole foods using you as my inspiration. Ill do just about anything to stave off LE. Aaak I'm so afraid of that! I'm already on my second compression sleeve because I'm so dang compliant with wearing it (even though I curse it every day.)

Sailor-Umm, what's a body pump class? I'm trying not to use my imagination on that one!!

Next Tuesday is my last whole-area, and I'll see my RO and get marks for the 5 boosts. That will definitely feel like I'm in the last stage of radiation!

    8/12:

    • 1.0 hr T (2.3 MPH avg)
    • (radiation #24)
    • .5 hr T (2.5 MPH avg) + Fitbit steps/walk + stretches

    = 5.68 miles

ksusan - I unexpectedly had my sim for the boosts today, and it definitely helps making it feel like the finish line is near! I have a green sharpie circle on my boob, so it feels like a 'paint by numbers - breast cancer edition'.. but there's light at the end of this very dark tunnel!

Ha! We may need to create a breast cancer dummy in case swatting the flies aren't enough! Get in some good swats there!

Fast walk today; 4.5 miles at a great pace because I was with my friend who usually runs. Glad I could sort of keep up!

On to the State Fair today. I'll get lots more walking in. I'll try to make decent food choices there...as decent as you can at the fair. I can't taste the food anyway!

Slothabouttown----hahahahaha. Body Pump is a weight training class. I am using very light weights since my surgery.

I have 10 more rads to go, including today's. I thought I would feel happier but I am actually feeling down. I think it is because I have lost so much of the summer and sailing time to cancer treatment. Sigh....  I try to tell myself I am fortunate I didn't have to have chemo and that my cancer is treatable, etc., but it doesn't help. I end up feeling guilty.

Sloth, that's wonderful that you were here helping out after Hurricane Sandy. It was awful for so many people, but I have very good memories of how the community pulled together in its wake.

Regarding NYC food, all I will say is that the idea of checking out the Iowa State Fair makes me salivate! KBeee, I hope you get some satisfying food choices as well as lots of walking!

Sailorbev- so sorry you are feeling down. You will be in perfect form by the time the next season starts. I know that probably doesn't help, but perhaps setting a goal for next year would help....I'm curious what kind of sailing you do. My father and step-father were both Star racers in their youth. Both are gone now.. ;-(

I just made a slew of PT appointments. It was hurting so bad at the end of chemo I decided to quit until I got the port out. Well it's out. I'm going in. I can feel the burn already

Linda: I just started using the food part of the app today. I also have never been a calorie counter, so we'll see. Knowing me I will do it for 3 days and forget/stop. Ooops.

Hmm, Iowa State Fair. I would like to see photos of this year's butter sculptures, and a report on the available "fried [food] on a stick"--pickles? Snickers? butter? Enjoy!

Butter sculptures? Sounds interesting, wonder how they do that. Always wondered what fried butter on a stick would taste like?!

    Enjoy KBeee!

I am not doing the calorie counting yet because I am trying to gain weight but I know at some point, the weight will come back and I will be watching what I eat. Didn't do a damn thing today so far because I have been racing around the universe trying to get everything I need to do done before surgery. The hospital gets so confused when you have an order for labs/bloodwork from an outside entity. It took me a hour just to get registered so I could get a urine sample and chest X-ray.

No, I am just required to have all the labs to and pre op stuff to them by Aug 21. I go down there Aug 30 and surgery is Sept 1. But I have to do the tests here so they have them and you would think no one had ever had surgery out of town. It really confuses these people when they have to do anything.
