Hi,

Had my implant exchange yesterday. Initially it looked like my skin was thick enough and had a cushion of fat left over from fat grafting done last year. Talked to my PS today to go over how the surgery went. He is now saying maybe too much risk to do nipple reconstruction, that would have risk of loss of implant if I got an infection. He is not certain that would occur, but it is certainly a risk. So I want to know, have any of you ladies have managed to sucessfully get a good result with nipple reconstruction after radiation. ?

    Hi there,

I had an exchange performed one year post radiation. Six months post exchange I had a fake nipple (what I call a fipple) created. The ps used my own skin and fat. It truly looked like a nipple! But, as the ps cautioned, it could flatten out and over a 4 month periodit did. The ps said we could try again if I want. Not sure I want to.
