I am starting the 3 week Canadian method of radiation followed by a 4 day boost on Thursday. I will be done in Sept 10th. We are moving across county as soon as I am done (if all goes well with the house closing) will I be ok energy wise to fly on the 10th? Or will I need to sleep after treatment and fly on the 11th?

I have no idea how tired radiation makes you. I am not working as I'm a SAHM. My husband is taking care of the packing and moving stuff.

Thanks!

Hi there.....I went through the 6 week program (5 boosts at end) with little to no fatigue. It does seem to affect everyone differently, and my ro stated that prior chemo (which I did not have), general health and if you are active all play a role. Unfortunately, the most fatigue is to be felt towards the end. I'm 50, not much older than you.

    Good luck!

Raxs did not tire me at all. I was EXHAUSTED from Taxol when I started rads but felt better every day.

Rads were OK. I don't think they made me very tired at all. If you're flying, you can always sleep on the plane.

I didn't do Canadian fraction but here is how it worked for me.

I started rads on New Years Eve. I felt fine, no fatigue up to the 20th. It was mild for the next week. I then started getting tireder. I walked to rads up to the last three days. By the end I was wiped and my brain was tired, I couldn't think. It actually got worse for the 5 days after.

Recovery was in phases. I would be ok, then get tired FAST. I was about 80 percent better by the end of February. I would say it took about 6 weeks from the end of rads to get my energy back.

Rads made me VERY tired. I finished this week finally and I'm pooped. My skin is healing already though. But fatigue has been awful for me through it all.

Hi!  I had approx. 35 treatments and several boosts - it's been five years so I forget the exact number, but I did not experience any fatigue at all.  As everyone says though, everyone is different.  I had a friend who did the same amount as I did and was so tired and fatigued she slept a whole weekend away!  Good luck and good luck with the move.

I was not fatigued during RADS, but I worked only part-time, so I wasn't stressing myself.

I did, however, have a severe skin reaction to this treatment (burning/blistering/peeling) that made it impossible for me to wear most clothes, a bra, etc. by the end of treatment. Fatigue was much less of a problem than inflammation and discomfort.
