Palpable but not findable on U/S-Mammo
Anyone else have a palpable lump.... that U/S and Diag. Mammo are not picking up? I was referred to a breast surgeon... not sure what they can do if a radiologist can't pick it up on the screen. I'm CONFUSED! I have lots of BC in the family.. I watch myself closely. I am waiting on Cytology report from nipple discharge taken last Wed from reg. OB/GYN.

Often lumpy feeling spots that show up on no imaging are simply denser areas of normal breast tissue.

Angie, we're sorry you're so worried. We are sending all our positive thoughts that all will be just fine. Please let us know how the cytology results turn out.

The breast surgeon may order an MRI.
Good luck to you. The waiting is the hardest part.

I received my cytology report back on the nipple drainage I had... and this is how it reads
"Mildly atypical epithelial groups/cells and macrophages.
NOTE: Clinical and radiological correlation is required
I had this test done on 8/5... just got the results.
Meanwhile, i had already went in (different place) to get my diag. mammo and U/S. Cleveland Clinic reads
that stuff almost automatically... small cluster of 'something' on mamm made them go ahead ith the U/S, which showed nothing.
So, now the Cytology report says to go for a clinical exam and radiologic correlation.
Cleveland clinic recommended breast surgeon due to lump being there, just not seen on the u/s, and now my regular Gyn is
also saying Breast surgeon.... here we go! Wild Ride, I'm sure my blood pressure is sky high!

Update: I seen the breast surgeon. He looked at the diagnostic reports and the ultrasound... basically agreed to everything they said, based on the photos, he can't say that it's anything of concern. So, off for an MRI... this Friday.
YAH! Hopefully I get good news!~

Oh, and as far as the cytology... it came out I had atypical cells, but the surgeon basically said that a nipple discharge cytology report is an outdated way to test anything, and basically said "We are going to throw that out"... Not even looking at what it said. WOAH, right? Either I need to change my OB/GYN to someone who uses modern tests, or this breast surgeon is a pompass a$$.
