My MO does not routinely do tumor markers either. I'm ok with that. Tumor markers can give a lot of false postives and cause unnecessary tests and worry.

A lot of MOs don't do follow-up markers or scans. Instead, they do quarterly physical examinations for a couple of years. Still, it's worth discussing with your MO.

I say the more teststhe better so if I get cancer again in my lymph nodes I will just wait till its palpable when a blood test could show something is going on doesn't make sense to me..are oncologists the only ines who can order these tests does just your family physician order these as well I'm just freaking out about the lack of care you recieve after

Mine does not do tumor markers or any scans. Bi was given the choice to come back 3 or 6 mo this after chemo. I chose 3!!! The time after chemo is scary because you do feel suddenly dropped. Breast cancer is about the only cancer where scans are not routine. It is based off of 2 small studies from Europe, and it's kind of frustrating and scary to have to wait and hope you get no symptoms, but that's pretty much what it boils down to. Sigh......

so frustrating kbee and I know everything you have been through and that it absolutely is possible to get a reoccurance with a mastectomy I am going to speak with my mo about this if I don't like the follow up care I will go somewhere else..do we at least get mris with implants if no mammograms?
