I am starting Chemo either Aug, 14 or Aug 17 . Sacred to dead. I would like to see if anyone else is starting at the same time. Also is anyone receive treatment in VA or John Hopkins?

I am a triple negative tribe member so they cut out the tumor and then the chemo since there are no other known treatments.Chemo is next

Four treatments of AC every other week (dose dense so the aggressive sucker doesn't grow back in between). Then 12 weekly treatments of Taxotere and Carboplatin.

Is anyone else doing this same cocktail or have any idea of what to really expect?

Probably we all are, but I'm scared! Let chat I am in VA!

Im sure some ladies starting august 2015 will come along soon, you might want to start a thread in chemotherapy before during and after called august 2015. Its a scary time and coming here sharing was great. I went through it 2 years ago. It is really scary and really rough but life does slowly return to a new normal. Take one step at a time and try not to let your mind run away. Good luck and I hope it flies by with few side effects to a bright healthy future :)

Hi SharonRS, you may want to check out the August 2015 thread for others, like myself, who start treatment this month. I had chemo 25 years ago when I first had breast cancer. I tolerated the chemo well back then. Now I have breast cancer again and I'm undergoing dose dense AC-Taxol. I, too, am triple negative, grade 3. There were several tumors across both sides, so I had a bilateral mastectomy.

I had my first treatment about 48 hours ago on August 6th. Yesterday, a home-care nurse came to my home to administer the Neulasta shot (will help with the white blood cell counts). I agree with you, it's a scary time. I can tell you that I am feeling quite well after my first treatment. Not a 100%, but maybe 90%. I've been able to go for a couple walks. I'm eating small meals and that helps lots with the very mild queasiness. And, as I'm sure you'll hear lots, but sure to intake plenty of fluid to help flush things out. All the best of luck for your treatment.

Hi SharonRS...Here's the link to the Aug Chemo group thread...its helpful to connect with who are going through this with you, and you'll get lots of great tips too https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/69/topic/833823

I finished up dose dense AC in June. I was scared to death as well, but it was not as bad as I had expected. My main side effects were nausea (which was controlled with Zofran), and general yukky feeling. I also took Neulasta, which caused some body aches, but none of it was dibilitating. For me, the worst of it only lasted a few days most treatments. The 2nd week after treatment, I felt pretty much normal. The effects vary from person to person, just be sure and discuss with your MO any SE you're having. Good luck .....you can do this!!
