i am a 43 year old woman who at 3i had radical hysterectomy n lymph node removal with ovarian suspension for adneocarcinoma of the cervix. I have a sister just recently diagnosed before 50 with stage 4 metastic colon cancer and my father passed from melanoma. I have 3 aunts 2 deceased from breast cancer and 1 living with it. My oncologist reccomended genetic testing and i came back CHEK2 positive mutation which increases breast and colon cancer. I am on a 6month high risk regimin with alternating mammo and mri and on latest mri needed guided biopsy. Dx was atypical ductal hyperplasia. Dr yesterday stated i will now need excisional biopsy and put on tamoxifen with continued ckeck ups every 6 months. My concerns are i am only 43 and every 6 months is a very lo.g time to continue doing this, with my genetics and family history and new diagnosis it just seems like a bilateral masectomy would take care of this so i can quit worrying and enjoy growing with my 3 teenagers and husband. Anyone else in a similar situation, if so what did you do???
