OK, well, I'm clearly out of the Bachelor loop. The only thing that's not animated that I watch regularly is Survivor.

Nancy, I swear, your weather is just CRAZY! Sorry to hear about the pinkeye. That and pumping out a basement is not what I would call a wonderful day. Where do your niece and nephew live?

Janie, so glad to hear the meds work. Drag to hear about the training you have to go through. The Amish school is about 20 miles from my sister's town. I just can't believe it. It was tragic enough when it was horrible, adolescents killing kids. Now it's horrible adults killing poor innocent kids. I just can't fathom it.

Jagsfan, good to meet you. I see you're part of the Bachelor contingent.
    Well, off to bed,

PJ--It was really funny that when I was at the Relay for Life they had the little kids running around at about 2 in the morning asking people 50 questions. They had to find one person for each of the questions. One of the questions was Do you watch the Bachelor? and I told one little girl YES and I think I was the only person on that track at that hour of the morning who was a fan because I must have signed about 15 sheets on that line. I also signed some on the Do you speak sign language? and Can you ride a horse? lines. It was funny. My niece and nephew live in the Houston area. She got married last January. I was supposed to go down there with my brother to go to the wedding, but that's when my mom got the Alzheimers thing and I couldn't leave. So I ALMOST made it to Texas. I had the clothes all ready and everything, but you know how you make plans and life comes up and "kicks you in the nose" as Charlie Brown said. Hi, Jagsfan--I think Lorenzo will be sorry about some of his choices too, but he doesn't get to see the stuff that we see. He has a different view of the girls. Hi, Janie, Mary & Renee. My eyes are burning--gotta put some drops in and go to bed. I started an online course about Autism tonight and have been staring at the screen too long. I made it through the first 2 modules out of 4 that I have 90 days to finish. I don't think it will take me 90 days at this rate. It's interesting as we work with an autistic child at the daycare. My eyes are still pinkish today and not quite so red, but I'm on meds for it so I went to work and taught school. I wore a bright red fleece shirt so that it just looked a lot like reflection off the shirt!!!! Yah, right?? Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

    HI ALL

Hope you feel better Nancy. Most of my crew are going to an Autism workshop in Atlanta in a couple of weeks, but it is the day of my surgery. I am training on a brand new autism test in December. We already purchased it. It is so big it had to be delivered by a truck. I do not know how we are supposed to get it back and forth between schools. It would be easier to take the kid to it. I have some old standbys that I like pretty well anyway.

The prince from the bachelor was on Ellen today. The show was taped and has been completed. He said he did not know until 2 hours before the final decision who he would choose because he really liked both of the last two.

I wrapped my arm when I got home tonight. It was really swollen. I think I will leave it wrapped for a while like the clinic makes me do; otherwise, I will have to go back.

    Hey PJ, Mayr, Renee, Jag.

    Good night all.

    PJ,

Everytime I wrap up my arm like the Michellin Man, there are people who did not see me like this before, and although I wear the sleeve daily, they exclaim "What did you do to your arm?" I think I will have some cards made up or a sign or a t-shirt with the explanation on it. I used to be able to go short whiles without the sleeve, but now the arm and hand swell up too quickly for me to do that. It started getting worse when I did some things around here this summer.

BRRRRRRRRR! It's so cold here that I turned on the oven to bake myself some chicken this afternoon and it made the kitchen feel so nice and warm that I dug around in the freezer and found a blackberry crisp and popped that in for another hour. Yum!! What a nice way to warm up the kitchen. I've been sitting here finishing up another module of my online class. Still interesting, but the eyes are stinging. Oh, I went and had a CBC and my WBC is 2.1 and my HGB is 9.6. The white count explains why I got the pinkeye so fast and probably the sore throat too. The red explains why I'm so cold all the time and am having trouble sleeping again. SIGH!! Ah, chemo, the double edged sword!! Oh, well, other than those two little glitches--I'm still here and Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Hi Girls, I'm back. Had a great time and I went through lots of fog in Mont. It was rainy and chilly, then it warmed up. Glindive is a very pretty area. We parked and walked over to the Yellowstone river. Hubby said don't pay attentiont to the rattle snake signs as they are hibernating this time of year, the lady in Beach said "No they are not!" Hubby got a good reaming out for that one!!!I have so much to do but I will be back later. Glad everyones doing good. Hey, P.J. I know all about the silly string because my grandson loves it and I know why they call it that, I look pretty silly digging it out of my hair and off my clothes. Later, Mary

Mary, when were you in Glendive??? I wish I had known. I could have whipped up there and given you a Montana hug. I don't usually look forward to going to Glendive because that means I am seeing a doctor, but I would have gladly driven up there to see you. I just ran over a rattlesnake this morning on the road so they aren't underground yet. I'll bet they scurry in pretty fast because it is starting to seriously get cold and snowy out there. Red Lodge on the other side of the state got 11 inches last night. We're supposed to have 2 inches by morning. I took the kids out to play in the backyard at daycare today and most of them ran back in after a few minutes because the wind got so cold--I told them it was mitten and hat time from now on. We have pictures at school tomorrow. All the little girls were going to wear dresses--now they'll probably be in snowsuits!!!!! Well, gotta go fix myself something to eat. I got busy and forgot to eat lunch. Speaking of eating----Rory bit his baby brother on the face today and left teeth marks--yikes. Rory is going to be 2 in a month and his baby brother is going to be 1 in Feb. He bit him yesterday too, but he did that at home--We're going to have to see about putting a muzzle on him!! Just kidding. Bye for now and let me know the next time you're in Montana. Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Hey, girls. Mary, glad to have you back safe and sound. I imagine you have lots of things to catch up on.

Nathan and I have mounds of homework yet to do tonight, so I just wanted to stop in and say hi. I emailed Janie a picture of my beautiful son and his not-as-beautiful mother. I'd post it on here, but I'm not that technically adept. I was just so proud of the handsome pic of him, I've been sending it to pretty much everyone I know. So Nancy, Mary, look out. It'll be coming your way, too....

Later girls. Off to do a "project"

Nancy, a shame that poor little kid got bitten right before picture day. Which reminds me, tomorrow's nathan's picture day, too.

Nancy, I was through on Tue. We stopped in Billings at a truck stop and then at the rest area almost to Glendive. Thats where I saw the sign about the snakes. We went up I90 North Dekota news said last wk. big snow coming on Wed., tomorrow. P.J. I am waiting on the pic. I will go on a Texas run and next time we go to Janies back yard I will be sure and take my phone number. We were going to get a Texas run this wk. but hubby has Dr. apt. Fri. and he wouldn't be back in time. We did go to Port Washington in Wi. and walked along the boardwalk(Lake Mich.). It was beautiful. Yesterday we walked along the beach of Lake Mich. and it was great but windy and chilly. We got some shells. I have lots to do but I will be back. Nancy, no way I will be in the mountains in that truck in snow. Next summer I will get back that way. Mary

Janie, Is this continue surgery or new? I read the back post but didn't see new surgery but I could of missed it. Well I can certainly see why Nancy likes Montana because it is beautiful. I saw such beautiful country that flying in to sight see I would have never seen. I ate salad in Neb. Utah, Idaho, Wash. state, Wyoming,Montana, Minn. and WI. The only states not affected by the possible E-Coli in lettuce is WI. and Mont. I always eat salad before my meal or for a meal.I am not sick. Nancy, the chemo seems to have left my system a bit array, I seem to get sick a lot too. I just got over a sore throat before I left, I had a head cold after the throat. I have been washing my poor pealing fingers to try to ward off any germs but my fingers are so peally anyway it looks like I have a fungus all the time. It is good to be home. I have kids to take to school. It is going to rain mixed with snow tomorrow. I know it won't stick the ground is too warm. I got all my tomatoes off the vines yesterday. I winterized the patio before I left(put the chairs away and cleaned the fountain). I have to cut my herbs and dry them so I will do that today, I have basil, chive etc. I dry it and have it all winter. Well I agree Janie, Paula looks great and has a beautiful smile. Nathan has knock out eyes and paula's smile. He is going to be a heart breaker. I want to see your new kitchen P.J., Gotta get. Wheres your pic Nancy? Mary

Mary, I'm impressed with your salad consumption. I just can't really get into salads very often. (Unless they're laced with mayo or something, of course) Your trip sounds fun. Kind of like RVing, but in an 18-wheeler. Does it also have a built-in potty and kitchen? That would be cool.....

Janie, we're supposed to hit high 40s one morning this week, too. But then it'll be back up in the 80s for highs. I love this time of year. I was hoping to take Nathan kayaking this weekend, but I see our little kayaking rental place has gone out of biz. Oh well. Guess I'll rake or something.

I hope your surgery goes swimmingly. It's next Wednesday? How long will you be in the hospital or do they kick you out a half hour after the procedure's over?

Nancy, stay warm up there. Have a fun day with those little, bitey kids.

kayaking?.......raking?.....kayaking?....raking? just don't seem to equate somehow.

Poke salad Mary goes trucking along.

This is reconstruction surgery to remove the tissue they left on the sides of each breast and under the arms and also repair the damage done by rads. The "big" surgery took 5 hours and I only did a 23 hour stay in an outpatient facility. I am not sure if I stay overnight this time or not. It is also outpatient. I hope I don't have the freakin' drains again.

Don't go giving me credit for eating healthy just yet, I get extra dressing,always....I like a little lettuce with my dressing. I love home made dressing and have a hard time eating prepared dressing but it will do when it has to. I make all my dressing home made. The salad is just a start so I would love to say I eat healthy but thats just not an option. I can't even get under 142 if I only put one foot on the scale. Its all this rat nest hair that grew back on my head, its heavy, and it looks like a dead animal. I have this one waud on the side of my bangs,(long forehead), and it just sticks out no matter what I do. I just let it. Janie, DUH, I remember now, dust off the brain. I didn't know if something changed while I was away though. I hope it all goes easy for you. Do you have help? Well later gaters, Mary

Mary, I hear you about the hair. I am just about tired of mine. There seems to be a consensus of opinion on this board that Herceptin makes it grow back slower. Mine is just still so thin and out of control.

My rugrats always step up to the plate when needed, so I am sure I will have help. They have asked me several times to confirm the date of surgery. It does not sound like a long recovery period.

Hi girls, Hubby came in lastnight, I hate it when he "surprises" me. P.J. no kitchen, I do take tuna and canned ham and chicken and make tuna salad sands. and we eat at the truck stops. I don't do breakfast, just never have, I eat at like 10:30 or 11 and then in the evening so I eat 2 meals a day. I have done that since I was a kid. It is cold and I can't find where I packed the electric blanket cord!!! I will get the down comforter out though. I turn the blanket on about a half hour before I go to bed and it is toasty, well it would be if I could find the cord. I wonder if I could chew hubby out for that....Maybe if I word it right, like I told him where I put it and he forgot where I told him. If I get to upset looking for it or if I bump my head while looking for it and it hurts I can chew him out, someone has to pay! I hate to admit this but sometimes I hit my head or leg while doing something that has me upset and I yell at him like a rabbid dog, like it is his fault somehow. Well, it does make me feel better....thats whats important. Gotta go somehow the washer has eaten my kitchen towels so I need to get a couple. Oh, P.J. no potty and hubby likes to park far away from the truck stop because he thinks it is quieter, "not" but he has no sense and I have a porta potty. Gotta go hubby is talking to me in another part of the house like I have my sonic ears on tonight, and frankly I probably don't care what he is saying anyway. Later, Mary

Hi--This is my lucky day. I love Friday the 13th. PJ--Nathan has Beautiful eyes. Thanks so much for the picture. I ran it off and put it in my journal. Mary--I haven't yet figured out how to put pictures on here. It would scare you all anyway. I don't have any recent ones of myself anyway. The last good picture of me was when my hair was gone and I weighed about 60 pounds more than I do now. I look like a totally different person now and I need another haircut. Maybe the school pictures that she took on Wednesday will be decent and I can get someone to give me lessons on how to put a picture on here. Now that I have Paula's e-mail address--I can probably manage to send one to her for sure and she could probably forward it on. In the class pictures--I'm the tall one in the middle!!!!!!! One of my 3 year olds today was chewing on something and I had her spit it out into my hand and found that she had taken the sticky tack off the back of her name plate on her cubby and was chewing on it??? I'm hoping that sticky tack isn't toxic!!??!! SIGH!! Well, gotta go to bed--I just e-mailed a card to my niece. She turned 21 today--the 12th (actually it's still the 12th here in the mountain time zone). But I know this post will say the 13th. Night my Junies!! Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

    Hey ladies,

Looks like it is chilly everywhere. Yes, even here in Georgia! TN is off this week. The Braves blew it for the series this year. Not much going on sportswise for me this weekend. Whoa! I might have to work or something! I did bring work home with me since I will be off most of the week and I always have things to do here (yuck). I got so excited yesterday. I am now set up to go into my work files and drives etc. from home! It takes so little to make me happy. I must get a life. Talk later. JF

Hey Girls, It has sure turned cold here. I have another sore throat. I think it is sinus from allergies. I have a Dr. apt. for my thyroid tomorrow so she can look at it. I wish those farmers would get the crops in so I can stop with the sore throats. I am getting kinda tired of this. My sister wants me to go to Az. around or after x-mas for a few days but I don't know, I would want to stay. Mother-in-law isn't looking very good and I have one friend that just passed away and another that is going quick from lung cancer. Hubby says next year for sure because his Mom wants him here for her last months. I understand that. I go check on her everyday but things are going to get bad pretty soon I am affraid. My sister-in-law owns a tavern, sells realestate(hubby works full time and farms) and has a farm filled with animals(because she likes them) and she has fresh eggs, milk etc. and crops so she will need help with MIL. Well I better get dressed I have to take grandaughter to PSR. She likes me to take her(Catholic classes). I have to stop by and see how MIL is. Later Have a Great Sunday Girls, Mary

Hey Girls, P.J. hope you are staying dry. Glad to hear the all clear. Janie, We indeed will all be thinking of you and hope you won't be too uncomfortable after. Saw my reg. Dr today and thyroid still a little swollen so did another blood TSH and my throat is allergies and a little infected but still no fever although I have never been a fever runner. I have Zithromax but waiting until tomorrow to start. I am getting real tired of allergies....It has rained pretty hard here since about 10 a.m. and the wind has been strong. I tell you the sun never shines here in the winter, thats why everyone gets winter depression. Gotta go get a slice of ham at Wally, I am hungry for beans so it's pull out the crock pot tomorrow. I will whip up a little corn bread and hey, I gotta meal. Later girls, Mary

Did you say cornbread? I am there!

I am about ready "to go under the knife" as they say. I got my prescriptions filled, talked the surgeon, his nurse, the hospital nurse and anesthesiologist. Have my instructions and just about ready to roll. I have to be there at 7 a.m. and the surgery is around 8. Dr. M told me again what he will do. He also said he would send some of the tissue off for analysis because it would be stupid to have it and not do that as a precaution.

I answered so many of the same questions to different people. I told them about the last time when I stopped breathing and said they may want to put a mirror under my nose or something. The nurse said "you only have one good vein and if I use it today, they will kill me because they will want to use it tomorrow." I knew I should have kept my port. However, she did manage to get a vein close to the good one.

Well, according to my instructions, I fast after midnight. Only take a sip of water with two pills in the morning. Bathe tonight and tomorrow with a special soap. I am not to wear make-up, nail polish, wigs, lotions etc. Leave all valuables at home. Remove my contacts. Looks like Halloween is coming early this year, but at least I will not be able to see myself in a mirror. I must wear a loose button down shirt. If I need drains, they will be removed the next day.

At first, the nurse said it would take about 3 hours and I would stay tomorrow night. But the doctor said he did not think it would take that long and I could probably leave tomorrow if I have someone with me tomorrow night. I will not go into the gooky stuff. I have to take tub baths for a week. Cannot drive for a week or lift or pull more than 10 pounds for 3 weeks. Need to sleep in an elevated position for a week to prevent bruising. Must wait at least a week to resume sexual activity. Ah shucks. Oh, I forgot. That is a moot point. Must "listen to my body." Doesn't that contradict the last one? And blah blah blah. It goes on and on.

I will be staying at Mark’s tomorrow night. I expect all to go well, as does the surgeon and staff. Everything was good today. BP was 111/71 and EKG was good.

    Thanks for your support.
