edited August 2015 in Waiting for Test Results

I had a core biopsy and clips inserted 5 days ago. I have been worried about the results. Today the doctors office phone and scheduled an appointment for next Monday - 7 days from now. I am in shock. I asked her to please let me know. Her response was, "I am not authorized to tell you. I had a panic attack. I just faxed the doctor and told him I wanted to know asap. I am scared. If it is cancer, would they let me drift in this state of worrying?

    Mooregirl-

We know how hard the waiting can be, we're so sorry for the anxiety you're experiencing! Hopefully, this means the results from your biopsy are good news, as we can't imagine the office scheduling an appointment a week out if it wasn't. Either way, we hope you hear back soon and can get in to get your results!

are you ok now after your surgery? I wonder if they are willing to wait, it's not bad news. I hope so. I have never known this kind of fear before

My doctor called me the next day after my biopsy. She just told me that the results came back positive and answered just a few questions before scheduling an appointment to go over things the next day. I am so grateful she didn't make me wait...or make me go in to hear the news.

I am going to insist on the results of the pathology report tomorrow. He can wait a week to talk with me about it, but I can't wait a week to know. No news is good news I hope. If it was cancer I hope the doctor would tell me right away as the doctors have for the other women posting here.

Hi mooregirl.....You have all the right to get the results from radiology...if they don't tell you on the phone go and get them in person.

This makes me so angry...For the doctors we are just another patient but don't they think what a woman is going through.

Hugs to you. We are here for you

Sorry to hear your news Mooregirl. Staging is normally done after surgery so did she say Grade 3 (as opposed to Stage?) It's so difficult in the beginning and things will become easier when you have a treatment plan. I don't think they can tell your stage from a biopsy only so please stay away from Dr Google for now xxxx

janet456: I don't know for sure. She was reading from the pathologist report. I am seeing the surgeon in one hour, hopefully I will get more answers. I heard 3 and spread and clusters and breast bone. Boyd748 I felt a hard lump, I was not too worried, i have had lumpy breast all my life. I can not tell you how less alone I feel when I read your post. I hope I can be this supportive of others too. Thank you so much ladie

Mooregirl: for when you come back from the surgeon's office--no, you are not alone. On a more practical note, when your head clears a bit--i think pretty much everyone reels when they hear 'You have cancer'--don't forget to ask for a copy of the pathologist's report, if the surgeon hasn't given you one.
