Starting the journey
Hi all,
I am starting my journey on this chapter of my life.
I am a mother of a 6 year old and during my own exam, I found a lump in the right breast which started my journey.
Ultrasound, Mammogram, Biopsy - high stress/anxiety.. leading to surgery in mid-July - right breast lumpectomy along with sentinel node biopsy.
I have preliminary results so far - around 2 cms lump, Node Negative, Lots of mucous found in the lump, clean margin..
I have appointments scheduled for Radiation Oncologist (General Hospital) and Medical Oncologist (Queensway Carleton) in coming weeks along with follow-up with my breast surgeon.
I am not sure what all this data means as yet in terms of stage, grade, receptor status etc. etc.. but continue to have a high stress and emotional state.
I went back to work 4 days after surgery as I felt ok (even though some who knew about my condition found it strange) and intend to work until next line of treatment is known.
That is all for now..taking one step at a time....

hi! So sorry to hear! I was just diagnosed last Friday and I too have suffered high anxiety and fears. I dont have an exact surgery date yet but do meet with my breast surgeon on Tuesday morning. They say to expect surgery 2-3 weeks. I have a 1cm with 1 node positive, so chemo is in my future. Thoughts are with you. Keep in touch!

Thank you all and my sincere prayers with all going through this journey.
I will update this thread as more information trickles in.
Until then, one step, one day at a time.
I am also using a lot of anti-angiogenesis concept to try to heal/cure/beat it from inside too.

I am just starting my journey as well. It seems like it is taking forever to get all the information pulled together so I can begin treatment. I too have been on a roller coaster of fear and emotion. But two things that helps me immensely are eating well while I can and ANY kind of exercise. I bought some wonderful Beginner Yoga DVD's to do at home when I get in a funk. They include simple stretches, focused breathing and a few minutes of quiet meditation. They really help!

Thank you all!
