Itchy Chest

Options

I was wondering if anyone else has the problem of their chest itching? It's above the scars, on my upper chest and it's driving me insane. Sometimes it's worse than others. I hardly ever wear a prosthesis. It doesn't seem to matter if I wear loose or tight clothes. I'm hoping this will eventually go away, but in the mean time, is there anything that will help it?

hmmm, not sure what to tell you. Sometimes itching is a sign of the nerve regenerating.  There's no rash at all?  And it's only that one place?

Is it your skin that itches or does it seem to be inside? I had "phantom itching" a couple of weeks after the mastectomy that was very intense a couple of times. And you can't scratch what is not there! It would have driven me crazy if it had kept up but fortunately it only lasted a few days. I had heard of phantom limb pain before but did not know phantom itching existed.

I'm trying to scratch the itch as I'm reading this lol...I am 3 years (today from dx ) and I get quite itchy every day..Sounds weird but its hard to scratch your chest when its numb but it does get easier.Sometimes when I cant find the itch I will scratch on my arm usually the inside of my elbow and the itch goes away

I have the same issue. My BMX was January 2014, and I initially thought it would be temporary, but it's a daily thing. What I've found with the weird nerviness is that rubbing (more gently than I thought would help) works well. Scratching makes my chest feel like there are razors in there. I haven't tried the elbow thing, but I will give that a try too.

Thank-you all.  I will try the elbow thing also.  Sometimes I rub so much it starts to feel sore.  Which is still weird since it's numb.
