Hello Barb - I'm so sorry to hear that.  Hope the sores and the wound will go away - I would think they will.  I agree with you that QOL is so important.  That's a major decision, one that I hope will be able to make in due course.  It must have been a hard decision to make.  Other than the sores and wound, how are you feeling?  Do you have plans for this summer?

Sending you big virtual hugs - Linda

Barb - Just bumping because you're not getting responses.  Perhaps, posting in Stage 4?

Barb, I wish I had some advice for you but I wanted to let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and I do hope that the wounds heal.  I was wondering what your medical team has suggested for you?  Are they on board with your decision?  Have you thought about going to another center for their opinion?  I wish that I had more ideas.

I understand QOL. I'm glad you are at peace.

Did your RO give you silva dyne? It's a mousse like cream that is for burns. You'll be amazed how quickly it heals. Ask for it if you haven't been given any. It's awesome stuff.

Hi Barb. I know how hard it is to say "no" to treatment. Been there. It took a while for me to be at peace with the decision, but so glad I did. If it's any consolation, I started feeling better than when I was in active treatment. We all have our line in the sand. I wish you comfort and peace. Much love and a big hug to you.

Barb - just wanted to say hi and hope you're feeling at peace. I second the Silvadene (sp?) suggestion - stuff works like a charm. Here's to you getting some QOL. Hugs, S.

    Barb

I just saw this thread. I understand that point where you are sick of being sick. Kudos for having the strength to make that decision. I hope you have your families support and all the resources at your fingertip. Please let me know how you're doing. Hugs, prayers and best wishes. You are such a wonderful special lady who support so many on the SIV threads.

    Love

    Maureen

Hugs Barb! May hospice bring you symptom relief and comfort. Are you close to your family? I hope they can be there for you. Wishing you sunny days with no pain and love. I am following right behind as things are not going well for me in cancerland lots of symptoms and miserable options. More and more I feel like stopping is the kinder gentle saner option.

Hi, Barb, thank you for opening this thread. I'm not there yet, but think palliative/hospice is not far in my future. I'm preparing a room in my house where I, and hopefully, visitors, can be comfortable.

Barb hope everything improves from all the treatments, that you can experiences some comfort. This link is to a wound care that I worked on(old nurse). They're is a description on how to use silvadine. Cleans up wounds nicely.

bhd1, posting to let you know I am thinking of you and will keep you in my prayers. I hope the issues from radiation clear up for you so you are not in so much discomfort. It's hard to know what to say in this situation, but you have my support. You say you are at peace with the matter, and that's what counts.

Barb, I just had my close friend make the same decision a few months ago so having had many frank talks with her regarding this I can well understand your decision and the fact you're at peace with it as was she. I really hope your wound heals quickly and you can get to enjoy some quality time with your family. My friend always said it took more courage to know when to stop than to battle on regardless and I send you my very best wishes.
