Lumpectomy July 22, 2015
Hi so I am post op one week today. I am in quite a bit of pain and incision around aerola is bleeding a bit..spoke to doc and he said normal. I will go in on saturday for post op and stitches removed. I live in Mexico and they have NO good pain meds here, thankfully a friend brought me some oxycodone from the states. All they had for me was Tramadol which makes me nauseous. Doc did a good job on boob, took out one more centimeter of tissue, clear margins and one Sentinal node both clear. THANK YOU. I feel grateful and lucky to have caught this early. I will start radiation in a month after breast heals, not sure for how long yet. Then drugs for 5 years. My surgeon also moved my nipple up on my breast so it would not be pointing down which I appreciated alot. Not sure if this is done in the states during lumpectomy but I was happy about that. I have a good friend here that was with me thru surgery. I kind of lost it during the radioactive tracer injections in my breast. I screamed like a banshee...omg that hurt. My friend said to me after that she certainly knows me better now. Not sure how I feel about that comment as this was and is a very scary thing all round. I feel like I need to apologize for not being more brave? I am dealing with this as best as I can for now and do not need at this point. This morning she asked if I was in a better mood? WTH. I am sorry I am not my chipper self!
THis diagnosis was just the topper of a horrendous last three years getting rid of an abusive ex husband so it may take me awhile..helllllooooo...to get back to myself and you know what? I might not ever be the same. This changes you in many ways as you all know and its not just physical. Thanks for listening feels good just to get it out.

Hi there Woods...and hope you are feeling less pain soon?don't feel bad about the tracers: I don't think I could have done it without lidocaine! (and for the iodine injection I was already out, my bs did that part...)
Can you get Ibuprofen and Tylenol OTC there? I found that a combination of 1 extra strength Tylenol and one Ibuprofen every four hours was all I needed (this was recommended by my doctor), and I had a nipple removed (because of tumor location) along with Lx so probably similar surgery to yours.
There are a Lumpectomy Lounge thread and a July Surgery Sisters thread in this forum...both are great groups. Come say hi. Whining is ALWAYS allowed!
Best wishes for continued healing and gentle hugs!!!

hi...I also had lumpectomy and sentinel node removal on the 22nd July . My wound is currently leaking but that's gud apparently as draining itself! I have approx 3 inch scar from node removal does that mean they have removed more than one node? I get my results next Thursday. Biopsy says one idc mass 6mm grade 1 and another currently benign
