Emptying drains: anyone else get faint looking at blood?

I've always had trouble with blood draws because I get light headed when I see blood or even hear the word "blood". When it came time to empty my drains after my mastectomy I had a total breakdown because I couldn't stand looking at them, let alone measuring and emptying them. I'm handling it better now, but I still have to sit down afterwards to get the world to stop spinning. Unfortunately my husband also faints when he sees blood so he's no help. *sigh* I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I found the emptying of the drains really gross, and it kind of made me sick when I looked at it. I live alone and had to do it myself. I managed, but it was hard. Fortunately I did not feel faint, just queasy!
