Chemo too?

edited July 2015 in HER2+ (Positive) Breast Cancer

I have stage one grade two HER2 ER- PR-breast cancer. I have 8m IFDC and DCIS with clear margins. I have had a double mastectomy. Do you think there is any chance that I won't need chemo with Herceptin? I meet with my oncologist soon, but in the meantime I am really sweating this. Is there anyone out there that just took Herceptin without any other treatment?

    angie - oncologists will not likely offer you Herceptin without chemo - they work synergistically, and Herceptin is not usually given on its own. Can you clarify the size of the invasive component that was removed? That is one of the things that chemo and/or Herceptin would be predicated on.

    Thanks for responding. Just to clarify, the size is 8mm (sorry about that). I guess I was hoping that since I've had a masectomy, I wouldn't have to do chemo with the Herceptin. I will, however, follow the oncologist's advice

    No chemo and no Herceptin! My surgeon misread the path report as 8 mm tumor when it was actually 0.8mm! Masectomy is my cure! PRAISE GOD!!!!!!!
