Please help me.
I am 26 and a mother of a three year old. Two days ago, I woke up with a painful right breast. It was a little red, with a small lump. The next day I went to the Urgent Care, who told me it was a bug bite, prescribed me a cream & an antibiotic. Today, it is incredibly painful & the lump is huge- almost to where you can see it from the outside. Half my breast is red & my nippleincreeibly itchy. everything I google brought me here.

Posting pictures of symptoms is prohibited per our Community Rules -- you are encouraged to seek medical advice from your doctor in the event of any concerns.

I am sorry. I had seen some other people doing it. I will remove it.
-
I have very bad anxiety since my first daughter died at four months to SIDS. So, with this going on, I am panicking. I know due to my younger age my chances are small- but I am still very worried. I am sorry I bothered all of you with my symptoms.
-
there is a notice above both forums that you posted on.
I would trust your doctor and try not to worry too much.
I missed your last post since we both posted at the same time. I am so sorry for your loss. I can understand why that would make you have more anxiety. I hope your doctor can reassure you. Take care of yourself.

Yes, I removed the other photo as well. I was not paying attention. I am sorry.

hi Meganrenee - it does look like a bug bite to me. Maybe you're having an allergic reaction to it. It could be a lot of things other than IBC though. IBC is pretty rare. Can you make an appointment with your dr?. Tell them you've already been to urgent care and you need to be seen ASAP? Hugs to you
Nancy
-
Thank you Nancy. I do have an appointment the 19th. I made it the same day as my urgent care appointment. Perhaps I can ask for a sooner one. Thank you so much.
-
IBC is rare - only between 1% - 5% of all of all DXd types of of BC are IBC. A VERy few of us are IBC though.ER or UC is NOT for getting a DX of any type of BC!
Probabilty is that you got a bug bite. Or an infection.
There are no 'set in stone rules' that any type of cancer HAS to follow! As said, I am IBC. I never had 'redness' or 'itchiness'.
Stay away from the 'QUACK Dr Google'. There are so many skin issues and after all the skin,is,the largest organ as it covers the body including the skin over breast area.
-
Google gave me the confidence to insist my doctor order an ultrasound. The rest is in my history
-
"...we're looking for are tumor cells that may be in the bloodstream somewhere that are lurking waiting to come back. So we are developing methods of determining how many of those cells are in the bloodstream and who might be at risk for recurrence of disease. "
Is anyone aware of any tests developed to predict recurrence of IBC?

I found the spot of orange peel skin on my breast when I got out of the shower--it was slightly pinker than the skin around it. When I showed it to my gyno a couple of days later, she had never heard of inflammatory breast cancer. The only reason I knew about it was that a friend had been diagnosed several years prior.
What probably saved my life was that my doctor insisted I knew my body and I saw something, so she sent me for a mammo and ultrasound. It was diagnosed before the dermal lymphatic invasion had extended beyond that 4" spot of peau d'orange, so it did not meet ACS criteria for IBC, but already it was node positive.
This is what is concerning about asking primary care (or even gyno!) physicians to rule out IBC--most of them have never seen a case, and frequently it's only the fact that the patient insists on more follow-up that IBC is diagnosed.

I Wanted to say thanks to the ladies who took the time to answer this lady who was scared in the manner in which this site was made for. Bless you all. I dont have IBC I have IDC but i found this breast cancer .org the night before I was diagnosed thru google as many frantic women do and I cant tell it held my hand that night the way no one could with out a word typed. So please other ladies before your lash out at these women for some reason for how dare they think they have IBC cause its SO rare I ask you how did you find out and how scared were you? Pave it forward!! I private messaged this lady days ago cause it broke my heart and I pray she went to the Dr. And it is a bug bite and didnt think of herself as the idiot you made her out to be. Shame on you. How about this don't post if you are that offended someone wants to join your what??? IBC club? Thank you to the kind ladies that did answer after and give her information and support for which this website is designed for. I have watched over and over you guys do this if mods wont say anything I will.

DSW1976 As Bon and others constantly explain, there's lots of misconceptions about IBC. As a guy with IBC, I've learned so much on this topic by reading these posts. BC is rare in men, but IBC is almost unheard of, so I need all the advice I can get.
You no doubt have noticed by now that there is plenty of disagreement on BCO about many topics, and that's healthy IMO. Really, though, there's no IBC club, just a lot of helpful people offering all sorts of advice, and sharing their knowledge.
-
Well said DSW1976. Seems some have forgotten what it was like to be in her shoes.
-
Thank you for your post DSW1976. You wrote it better than I ever could.
Nancy

DSW1976 - IF you read the first thing that is written below IBC Forum you will see it says "Just diagnosed, in treatment, or finished treatment for IBC.". Not you!
In fact, IBC IS rare BUT skin issues are VERY common. "before I was diagnosed THRU google" - so your IDC diagnosis is from 'google' not Dr, tests, scans, etc.?
No one "has lashed out at", but given information from ones who are IBC (in most cases) so are LIVING with it for yrs, you have no IBC experience! "Support" - is here for IBCers but every skin issue is not IBC and to not explain this is wrong!
"IBC Club" Where did you come up with that? Go back to your 'IDC Club'! Why (as an IBC survivor) should I not reply about IBC? BUT you as an IDC have more knowledge about IBC than tbose who are IBC - WRONG.
-
DSW1976, I agree with you 100%. As I have stated before, I hate to think of all the women who come to this board and are probably scared away by the responses of a few "know-it-alls" who like to put them down for being afraid and asking questions! I don't have IBC, but I don't see the need to be rude to the women who come here needing a kind word or some reassurance, that's the main reason people post here. If you can't say something kind or helpful, then why don't you just stay off the boards or keep quiet!!
-
- IBCers post in
the IBC Forum because we are IBC!
I'm not IDC - I don't post there because I'm NOT IDC.
The ONLY ' rude' ones are those who post where they have no IBC exlerience (like you).. Facts are IBC is rare, skin issues are common.
- IBCers post in
-
If you will notice, I don't claim to have any experience with IBC. I do have experience with being compassionate to another human being. End of conversation. I have learned it does no good to talk to you.
-
Your response to my post says it all. Yes Dr. Google did my surgery and chemo. I emailed her letting her know that there are ladies that are kind here period. I dont lnow about IBC and wouldnt claim to wohldnt even give anyone advice ever period. I saw a lady saying help please period.... Did you.? Why answer her then was all i was saying. Bon gave her information the other ladies gave her information and kindness. I get its rare but she was scared. Never mind. Sorry to the other ladies for using there site for this im engaging in i apologize. I didnt mean to offend the rest of you.
-
How is it "cruel" (your word used on me) to give information about IBC from one who is IBC?
Yes - there was 'someone' with a skin issue who had decided on IBC. She had decided on IBC - it would have been "cruel" to have not explained that the VAST majority of skin issues are NOT IBC. IF everyone who decides they are IBC because of a skin issue were actually IBC - it would not be rare but the most common type of BC.
Why not answer anyone with information? Guess you think no one should even answer when it is not what YOU think is what should be said. WRONG. We are each unique and each have something' to give. Thankfully we are each who we are and that is great!
-
Your "cut and paste" patronizing response to women worried about IBC is getting very old, and doesn't help anyone. You immediately take a defensive stance whenever someone "dares" to think they might have IBC, like you do. If this post gets deleted by the mods, so be it, but of all the women on these boards I have come across you are by far the most mean spirited.
-
Thank you Monis (and DSW1976) for having the nerve to state the truth. I, like you, am sick of seeing the same condescending attitude used on the poor women that come here for help (and the childish responses from Kicks when you dare comment on her attitude). The mods should be well aware of what is going on...she has been responding this way for a long time. When I first noticed her responses, I honestly thought that maybe she didn't realize how she was coming across to other people. I have since figured out that she knows exactly what she is doing. She acts as if she is the one and only "true expert" on IBC and having IBC is like being a member of some exclusive club and that only SHE can grant you permission to join! It really seems that she feels threatened by the fact that someone else could possibly think they might have the same dx she does.

Moderators. What happened to freedom of speech?

Holy "Holier than thou", Batman!
This was the first post I read, on my first visit to this forum (and as you see it's my first response to your board).
I am a 10+ year survivor of IBC. I have corresponded with many other survivors in those years, and spent a fair amount of time answering questions from women such as MeganRenee. I can't believe how callous the responses above are. "Read the rules". "Listen to your doctors". "Don't trust Dr. Google". And then the only helpful post is a miles-long cut & paste of an entire interview from six years ago. Helpful information, but where's the human touch?
Wow.
-
The RULES clearly state - 'Posting pictures of symptoms is prohibited per Community Rules". -
But she took the picture off pretty immediately, when you first reminded her of that. IBC, IDC, ILC,- they are ALL a threat to our health, and frightening. I second what dragon chick wrote. And I have found so called DR google to be an excellent resource. Actually, it's how I found BCO in the first place. And for someone like me who thirsts for knowledge, I have found the "search" function to be one of the very best things, and also one of my favorite words.

Okay ladies. Honestly, I was not really offended by anyone. I actually did go to my doctor & it was laid out kind of like this:
The signs showed up about eight days ago as a small red circle and a small lump. The next day the lump was bigger so I went to urgent care- was told it was a bug bite.
Three days later- it was purple like a bruise and it had one spot that was incredibly painful. I went to a different urgent care who referred me to a surgeon. After I left I went back to the original urgent care which was right next door which is also my primary. I figured their thw ones who said it was a bug bite they could look again. Immediately the doctor apologized for her coworkers mistakr and sent me to the emergency room. They were ready to operate it but due to the location they set meup with a surgeon. They gave me painpills and three antibiotics.
Four days ago, I couldn't tolerate it anymore. I went to the ER again because my breast was 3 times its size and my doctor had just closed. They sent me to a surgeon who reviewed the two ultrasounds I had- and chose to do a biopsy.
Friday, they did my biopsy. Well, it was scheduled. They stuck the needle in & pus and blood came out. They sent that for a culture. The lump is still hard and big but it doesn't hurt anymore & the purple color is barely there. I am still worried about cancer though despite the radiologist saying it is more than likely an abcess since it had blood and pus.
I am sorry I posted the photo to begin with. I just thought it would be easier to help me if people knew what I was talking about. Thank you for the help I hsve recieved. Does anyone knoe if pus or blood can be seen still in IBC or BC at all?
-
Meganrenee. pus and blood, along with an "incredibly painful" spot, says INFECTION. It could be an abscess, or some other kind of bacterial thingy. I would bet my next paycheck that it's not IBC.
And you have no need to apologize. I'm so glad you came here to us to ask your question. I turned to BCO in the beginning of my breast cancer fandango and found the people here to be sincerely helpful and willing to share their own journey's details.
