Morning!

It has been 8 yrs since my unilateral mastectomy and my implant has started to itch - you know, the kind you can't relieve by scratching no matter how hard you try!

Can anyone give me advice on what it could be?

btw, stage 1b, radiation, hormonal therapy (on nothing now), no chemo

Thx!

Marie, I hate that itch! I get it too, I am a year and a half out from mastectomy. Have you had it before? are you experiencing anything else different? I know I was told implants have a life of about ten years, as you have had yours 8, maybe that is part of it? I would call the nurse at your surgeon's office, run it past them. I am sure they will have a response for you. Let us know what you find out.

    Meadow,

I've had phantom itches before, but this one's been constant and it's a little nerve wracking. I haven't been on bco in a long time,so I guess this is kinda bothering me more than I thought it did now that I think about it. Thanks for the reply!

    Hugs,

    Marie

I currently have an itch that is driving me crazy. I am almost 5 years out and have had for about a week. I look crazy constantly rubbing and slapping my foob for relief.

    Did yours go away??

yes it did after about 2 days. I guess our bodies are just strange sometimes and we freak out over the smallest change. Not to say that after a week or two if it still bothers you, you should follow up with your doc(s).

    Gentle hugs!

this is my first visit to this site in a very long time. I will be 6 years out next month and the last reconstruction I had was 2 surgeries in 2013 where the implants were removed and pockets redone with the implants put back in (same ones). I have saline implants and they do itch on occasion. I usually get it around the nipple reconstruction. The PS told me sometimes it is nerve regeneration that causes it. I don't know really but it is annoying.

Hi Mary, this is what is happening to me now 10 years post mastectomy. I see that the post is somewhat old and I was wondering if you have found out anything more.
