Congrats Georgie!!! YAY! So happy for you!!

I'm pretty sure my clinic doesn't have a bell either.....its actually part of the MO's office and its not very private...other patients can see/hear into the chemo room as they go to the lab and exam rooms.

I was given a book by the chemo nurses with recipes and food tips on dealing with SE, but no dietary guidance in ref to re-occurrence. I'm not a drinker so I don't have that to sort out, but clean eating is something I need to research more. A friend of my cousin's wrote a book about her breast cancer journey....and added her research on toxins and chemicals we are exposed to in practically everything we touch, use and and eat. She also offered tips on how to transition from using plastics and household chemicals, etc. Its all so overwhelming.

we have no bell or anything either at my chemo lounge.

I try to eat healthy, exercise and make good choices. If you try to avoid everything That could. Cause cancer , you would be avoiding everything

on a much much sadder note a lady that I've been following on Facebook passed away this morning. She was a 30 something mother of 5 that was diagnosed stage 4 2 years ago. She was such an inspiration and such a fighter. Please if you are religious include her family in your prayers tonight. Sarah Amento was such a wonderful loving woman

Addie I looked your friend up on facebook she seemed like an amazing person although I feel bad for anyone who passes from this terrible disease young mothers with young children truely get to me her daughter was only 3 when her mother passed and was 1 when she was diagnosed same as my little one. It just breaks my heart I will pray for her familybut I know she's in heaven and no longer in pain

she is finally at peace yes. Her struggle is now over. Just so sad. She was dx stage 4 from the beginning because her docs wouldn't listen to her because of her age and the fact se was breastfeeding. Similar to my case- I'm so glad that I got a 2nd opinion just wish more women would listen to their bodies and push for a 2nd opinion.

ugh I know so annoying nobody thinks you can get breastcancer at a young age there are plenty of women who have breast cancer young and it's becoming more and more common sadly. My gyno told me it was a cyst don't worry so I went 2 months not doing anything about it went back demanding a biopsy thank god I did!

yes almost same as me. I found my lump in mid December while nursing my daughter- waited about 2 weeks before I called anyone about it. Finally got in to my gyno and she refers to me doc- went and saw him and he basically pushed me aside telling me I was too young and that breast cancer doesn't usually hurt (mine stung) also that he thought it was just a fibroadeoma. So I went home- lost sleep over it for about 2 weeks and the. Finally called him and Said I need another opinion. I don't feel right about this. My first doc didn't want to even biopsy it until April- when I was done weening. So I got a 2nd opinion and she set up a biopsy within a week. And 2 days later I had the results. And April 1st I have my mastectomy. I tell all my friends to be their own advocates and if something doesn't seem right ask for another opinion. I'm so so so so glad I did. If I waited who knows what the progression of it could have been. And thank god you pushed for another opinion also!!

yes pretty close indeed. I remember after the initial ultra sound the nurse telling me to go home and enjoy the holidays and to not worry about it yet. I tried so so so hard to push it in the back of my mind. But THIS Christmas I will be done with chemo (hopefully September 1st) so these coming up holidays I am going to enjoy more than ever!!!!! I was also wondering if anyone on there is doing The Strides against breast cancer walk? I signed up and have a team going. I can't wait to raise money for this awesome cause. It's through the American cancer society.

Addie and Steph - self advocacy is so critical but not everyone can do it. So glad both of you pushed for your health. Addie, sorry for your loss of this wonderful young woman. She will be in my prayers.

Dizzparkmom - you look wonderful in that photo with your son. He is soooo cute!

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. It made a difference and I had a pleasant birthday with just a few friends. My kids had a blast with their friend. I am going to see a Pilates trainer today - she works specifically with women who have had mastectomies. Excited for the appointment

Addie- so sorry about your friend. It is very troubling the way doctors are treating suspiscous lumps in younger women. It is most certainly on the rise in younger women. They need to wake up and smell the coffee.

Positive- I'm so glad your birthday was a success and one to remember. I'm also very excited to hear about your Pilates! You really seemed to have grabbed onto the horns lately. I'm so pleased for you. And of course, jealous. Will be looking forward to reports back. I live in an area where I can't find even a regular yoga class! I'm going to buy a mat and do some YouTube and app yoga at home.

okay just a quick question. When do you consider yourself cancer free? Mainly for people that didn't have lymph node involvement like myself. Just always been curious about that.

Addie, so sorry to hear the news of the passing of this amazing woman. I also looked her up and have been inspired by her story of persistence and self-advocacy. It is heart breaking for her family, though I know she has left behind such strength and love for her children to last them a lifetime. My thoughts and prayers will be with them.

Slv and Positive, thanks. We had an awesome night. GREAT SHOW. I was surprised by the large number of families at the concert. Tons of kids my son's age (tween).

Little Blue Flowers, Glad to hear you like Imagine Dragons. They are even better in concert and can highly recommend going if you ever get the chance. Very Inspiring!

Last week, I wasn't sure I would have the energy to go to the show. I am so thankful I was able to pull it together in time and share this special night with DS.

Kudos to Addie and Steph for pushing for answers!! Most of our April group are younger, which has surprised me from the beginning! I was 55 at diagnosis which falls into the typical age group I think. My heart really goes out to those of you with young children at home and dealing with this crap called cancer!!

Addie, I'll be praying for Sarah's family....such a sad loss. She sounded like a very loving and vibrant young woman.

Positive Spirit, so happy that you had a good birthday....you deserve a nice celebration! Fill us in on the Pilates!

Slv, it sounds like your birthday was fantastic too! Glad you also enjoyed your special day!

Dizz, love your picture!! Imagine Dragons!! Awesome!!

Good luck to everyone hitting the chair this week. I'm cleared for Taxol #4 tomorrow. I've had a really great week..... I can only hope this treatment is half as easy on me as the last.

Addie I have wondered the same thing myself. I had no lymph node involvement and wondered if technically I was considered cancer free after my BMX?

About being cancer free- I did have node involvement, but as soon as my first scan came back clean after surgery and lymph node removal, they said I was for all intents and purposes cancer free, and chemo and radiation are insurance because of my age and aggressive cancer type. So, I've been rolling with that and considering my CD of my MRI to be my "receipt" of good health. I think every doctor is different though...

That's good littleblue. It's something I've always wondered. Tomorrow I don't meet with my normal MO so I will wait to ask his opinion on that matter when I actually get to sit down with him. Yesterday I noticed that my finger nails are staring to hurt and I think I had some neorothapy after my last chemo- that evening my chin was tingly.
