What do you think of this Canadian Cancer Society fund raiser

This "Face Your Fears" campaign really bothers me. I have phoned the CCS but got nowhere

There are, to my mind, many many problems with this campaign, but if you believe, as I do, that no one should be asked to put their mental or physical health at risk to raise money for cancer, please let the CCS know.

Just a warning, if you browse through the site, you will see a few pictures I found traumatizing. One of a horror show psycho clown, and another of tarantulas. Reality TV meets fundraising.

I would like to see what others think too. Thanks

Who designed this campaign - a bunch of 18 year old boys in computer class???? Not only that the website is slow and very hard to navigate - I don't donate to either the Canadian Cancer Society nor the American Cancer Society (I used to live in the U.S.) because, when called upon for either myself, or my late sister - nothing, absolutely nothing was there to help us - I give only to pure research - StandUp4Cancer is one of them.....

Thanks for replying Sandy. I get really upset with crass fundraising. I can't help but think if the CCS doesn't understand why this campaign is,at best in poor tste, and at worst, capable of causing harm, in what other ways is the organization lacking integrity.

I'm going to look into StandUp4Cancer. I try to donate to my local hospital as they give out gas cards to patients travelling long distances for chemo and radiation, and are wonderful.

Aliali - Yes, giving to anyone that directly helps cancer patients is always the ideal - I like StandUp4Cancer because they give all of their money to pure research - nothing pink there!!!

Sandy, I checked to see if I called it that on here in the past. I can't be certain I may have done that too, lol.
