Has anyone used Clairol to cover grays sooner than five months? I'm three months PFC and going on vacay in a couple of weeks and I would love to not have gray hair. (I only have a small streak in front and gray sideburns, so I don't really want to do the full Monty at the hairdresser if I don't have to.) Let me know!
-
pch - I used Clairol Beautiful Collection at about 7 weeks. I had my regular salon color person apply it and didn't sit under the dryer as the product suggests. I was not shedding at all. If you're not shedding (or not much) I wouldn't worry about using color at 3 months.
-
has anyone used vegatable dye? How long after? Thanks! I just finished 7.17! Cannot wait to send back
-
Alibeths, how did your hair do after the AC? Looks like there's enough left to worry about coloring!
-
still shedding daily, but I think it's postpartum hair loss. Getting bleached next week, 3.5 months PFC. I'll keep everyone posted re:results. Hair appt is one year and one day after initial Dx. Wow, what a year
-
Dancetrancer - Wow, your photos give me hope! Your hair is so much like mine! Did you lose much between your 3rd and 4th TC?
-
So glad to hear that Wildflower! It's been 3 years since chemo for me (YAY!!!!), so my memory is a bit fuzzy. But I do believe that my shedding was similar throughout chemo. I did shed post chemo for a long time - about 4 months. But not huge amounts, just a steady, slow shed. Enough to drive me batty and think it would never stop. But it did!
-
Did the new hair coming in kind of cancel out the shedding? as in, covering the thin spots?
-
Has anyone straightened their hair six months out or so with a keratin treatment or Brazilian blowout? With the humidity and new hair growth popping up, my hair is getting pretty frizzy. I know some straightening treatments have formaldihyde, which of course I wouldn't use, but I would think there would be an organic version out there.
-
WIldflower, the only noticeable area where my hair thinned was in the front by my part and I used Toppix to cover it. But it filled in pretty fast with new hair growth.
-
I had thinning all over but no one could tell. No bald spots on the top of my head - only in the classic places - nape of the neck. In fact, I didn't even know I had lost that much at the nape until it had grown in to about 3" and was curly!
And yes, the growing in must have canceled out the shedding b/c my hair did not appear to get thinner and thinner as time went on.

-
In fact, my hair has presented as thicker ever since chemo, b/c the new little hairs that grew in have a slight wave to them. Thus my hair appears thicker than it ever has. It was especially thick in that first year. I miss the extra curl, but at least I still have some wave/body that I never had before.
-
anyone use vegetable dye to dye their hair?? Thanks!!
-
Alibeths,
When I finished chemo someone recommended Framesi , coloring from their eclectic line . They used it and it worked well. I don't know what's in it but it doesn't have any of the stuff the penguin guys say not to use. It worked very well
-
thanks. How long after chemo did you wait? Was it foils? Thanks sul
-
I waited five months to color my hair with non ammonia, non peroxide hair color. I had it done at the salon. Before that, I used the Colormark and Fanci-full to cover the roots.
-
Alibeths,
My hairdresser used a non peroxide non ammonia color a month and a half after chemo. Next coloring is in August 4 mos PFCand I'm going back to my regular color process
-
thx!
-
Just had my hair dyed last Friday with permanent color with a few subtle highlights. So happy to feel like me again. Bye bye gray/white hair
I'm now a little over 4 months since last treatment. No shedding and color turned out great. Hang in there, girls. ♡Kim -
Awesome Kim! The day I got my hair highlighted for the first time post capping I was SOOOOOOOOO excited! Happy for you!

-
dancetrance,
That's so great! I'm finally getting back to my regular color and highlights on Aug 8, can't wait
-
Whoop, whoop! Normalcy...wow, a little taste of normalcy coming your way!

Good stuff ladies. Keep on keepin' on.
-
sitting in the chair now, drinking champagne and getting bleach applied. One year, one day after Dx, just shy of five months PFC. So glad to be here! Out the other side
-
Gatomal,
Yayyyy! I can just picture you there. I'm getting the full color highlights thing again ( finally) on Aug 8!
-
Yay Gatomal! That sounds heavenly!!!! You go girl!!
-
Yay Gatomal!!!! Woo-hoo!!!
-
after a year of treatment. Blond. At least way more than the past year. We are working up to more blond. Going slow to see how hair responded. Did not lose hair during the bleaching and foils. Feels like I am finally rejoining the land of the well.

-
Beautiful Gatomal!!!!
From a fellow blonde addict.

-
Gatomal,
That is stunning!!!!!!!! You are the poster girl for PCC!
-
