GingerChi For my first chemo treatment, I didn't take anything, because they didn't give me the prescriptions ahead of time, so I got the steroid in my iv.

After that I was given dexamethasone 4 mg tablets- had to take a total of 4 pills the day before, day of and day after. I did not get any steroid in my IV from what I know. A normal chemo day would be 2 pills of zofran, 1 of atavian, iv of bendryl, Carboplatin, Taxotere, herceptin and perjeta

Alibeths - love the hair.....i am in fear of mine not coming back due to the fact my younger brothers are balding, my mom's hair is thin, my dad is bald, and I suffer from hair pulling, so I have a few spots on my head where I think nothing will ever come back after this!

I worked yesterday morning and again all last night! Wow! I missed a lot while I was away!!!

Alibeths, Your time, effort and suffering were worth it. Your hair is amazing!

Gingerchi, I have always had 20 mg IV. Nothing before or after. Back in 2013 on Taxotere, I had to take it a few days before and after.

Lynne, So glad to hear you are feeling a bit better and some energy is returning.

Peabrain, Yahoo on not having to do rads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andrea, The pictures are gorgeous! DH and I went to Vancouver and Victoria BC on our honeymoon 20 years ago!

Renee, My friend wants me to go with her to yoga, and I am afraid to try that in public. I think I'd look drunk also!!!!!

Littleblue, It is nice once in a while to feel good enough to forget you're on chemo. I do that sometimes and then I walk by a mirror and remember right away!!!!!

Tina, Glad you're able to run more than you thought. Hopefully your HGB is coming up a bit.

My cold is marginally better. I feel good; just can't shake the darn cough. I'll take it though since I do feel good...much better than not feeling good and being stuck on the couch. My big toe got tangled in the handle of our boat during a training exercise at work yesterday. It is big and colorful and I really, really hope it is not broken. My family has had enough broken foot bones for the summer. I probably should get an x-ray today. I'll add it to my list of things to do. If it weren't right at the joint, I would just put a shoe on and ignore it, but I know that would be dumb.

am I going to die of infection if I accidentally got my dressing over my port wound wet and had to change it last night? It was only on for 12 hrs. I'll ask the MO the same thing when they open but how worried should I be?

If you put a clean, dry dressing on this morning, it should be okay. Just keep an eye on it.

I think it's ok littleblueflowers i literally have an open wound they didn't close my area after they took my port out I get it wet but just put new dry bandage on I actually have to pack it andstick gauze up into the hole it's gross and I look like a wounded soldier so attractive at summer time

Kbeee, ouch! Hope that toe is okay.

Littleblue, the morning after the port went in, the nurse removed the bandage (and steristrips), tutting about how docs don't understand that dressings trap bacteria and should not be left on for a week. She didn't redress it. If I'd been going to work I'd have asked for a light dressing to protect against my shirt. After the port came out, I removed my dressing in under 24 hours because the hypoallergeic tape was breaking me out.

I got my port out yesterday. It's been 2 weeks since my last taxol and my feet and fingers have gotten increasingly worse as far as the numbness and tingling. I start rads on August 3 for 5 weeks. image

Stacy- do you have any pain from the deportation? For some reason I'm terrified of getting it out. But I don't want it in

Don't be to afraid of getting it out....getting it out was def a bit diff then getting it in. I was awake for the deportation but got some drugs to help with the pain and they numbed the area very good so I could only feel slight tugging and pulling. It was quit sore yest. But today it's not been too bad. Just a twinge of pain every now and again.

Katy, getting it out was nothing like getting it in! I only had a little pain and have had some itching. Compared to everything else we've done, that's like going to a party!

hi everyone. Reading through all the posts and thinking of the many experiences on this discussion board. I met a woman with Triple N who is 1 year post treatment and she gave me hope.... I am turning 44 on Saturday and want to make this new year one of the best in my life!!!! Why not, right? Watching 'just for gags' with my 7 yo daughter. We love Quebec humor! I have a new career idea for you, Littleblue. :D

Lynne: have not forgotten about our lunch...just saying, a date is a date

Happy early Birthday Positive Spirit!!! I hope you have a beautiful, wonderful day full of all your favorite things!! What plans do you have? That will be great for you and Lynne to get together too! Will both of you eat a big piece of cake for me since I cant have any these days!?!?! :)

Thanks for all the replies about the steroids. I just talked to someone using my same MO and she was left on that dosage for all 12 treatments. Lovely!

Just ask to be lowered. My MO said there's no reason to be on that high of a dose when you're also getting them during your infusion. It made such a huge difference with how I felt and it still controlled the nausea.

Had taxol number 6 yesterday and I think it's making my Bly feel weird. Haven't had this feeling since starting taxol but I am half way through taxol so I'm sure it's building up in my system.

Thanks for the info, Kbee and Ksusan! Turns out, we got a fire and I didn't get a chance to call my MO yet. Its been 24 hrs- they told me to take the dressing off any way. I will keep an eye on it!

Also, it didn't hurt at all to get it out, Jackbirdie. Once the lido wore off, it was a little sore. Today, 24 hours later, it is a tiny bit itchy but that's it. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay so much better than having the damn thing in! Although, I am so grateful for it!

Positive Spirit! Happy Birthday dearie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wishing you many more. Nope. Not wishing. You are going to have so many more. We are all going to live long enough to embarrasse our great grand children! (guess I better get on that..) Big hugs girl! love ya!

Addie, For some reason Taxol 6 and 7 hit me harder, but 8 and 9 have been easier so far.

Positive Spirit, I hope you have an absolutely wonderful birthday!
