Breast cancer in both breasts
I was diagnosed with stage 3a triple positive breast cancer in left breast. Doing neoadjunct chemo. On last 4 taxol treatments I was given mri to determine status of tumor. At this time I was diagnosed with another mass .06 millimeters in right breast. Has anyone been on neoadjunct chemo and developed a mass in opposite breast. Very worried just want to tell oncologist I am done. Schedule me for surgery

Stage3 You are in my thoughts and prayers, I have been through
stage 3 surgery and chemo and I know You will do well. Please
keep a journal of all You are going through and Your side effects
for the doctor.
Heavenly Father, Please wrap this wonderful lady in Your arms
of love and help her through all she is facing. Help her with any
pain or side effects. I know she has a lot of love and can make
it through. Bless her doctor so he will do all he needs to to make things
better. In Jesus name. Amen

Hi Stage 3:
So sorry you are going through this. Weekends can be slow on the boards, but hopefully someone will be able to share their experience.
You didn't mention what the initial diagnostic procedures were. Are you saying you had an initial MRI which was clear on the right, and now, a second MRI is showing a new small mass on the right?

Bilateral breast cancer is sometimes associated with BRCA mutations. Have you had genetic testing? It's likely that the cancer was in the other breast already and did not develop during chemo. News about cancer in the healthy breast may easily floor you but hopefully the chemo was doing it's job and killing it. The treatment is still the same even with 2 cancers - take it from someone who had 18 tumors. Hugs!

hi friends,
Yes I had a clear pet scan in March this year and then was told to do neoadjunct chemo. On my 8 dose of taxol had an mri which showed another mass .06 center meters in my right breast. I just had a biospy and waiting for results. I am upset because I think that they oncologist knowing I had such an aggressive cancer surgery should of been done first.

Yes the mri was clear on the right breast only had breast cancer in left. Put on a/c chemo then taxol. Worried that the cancer is metastasizing

Hi Stage3:
Please know that many of us are reading your story and keeping you in our thoughts even if we do not come up with anything to post.
The times of not knowing and the worries about spread or recurrence are very, very hard. When another possible area of concern is found in your other breast, it is very shocking. After requesting a second opinion, I refused to have another diagnostic mammogram for a week while I processed the possibility bilateral disease. I think the impact was worse after I thought the left was in the clear.
I am hoping for a benign result for you. MRI has a higher rate of false positives than other modalities, and results can be influenced by things like the phase of the menstrual cycle. This is purely speculation, but whatever it is (including a benign thing), maybe it was there before, but the drugs are having an effect, and altered the permeability in a way that makes it visible now. The drugs you are receiving are making you an inhospitable place for cells to establish themselves elsewhere.
Thinking of you.

I guess once u get cancer all sorts of things start to happen. I hope this is the worst that happens to me. Thanks for being part of my fears. It's a journey for all of us

I'm glad it wasn't cancer, but you were smart to have it checked out. I was initially diagnosed with stage 2 cancer in my right breast, and ti was during the preliminary MRI testing that they found stage 3 cancer all through my left breast and lymph nodes. It was a thin film rather than a lump, so didn't show up in the mammograms.
I hope people realize that a clear mammorgram doesn't necessarily mean you don't have cancer. Women with dense breasts should definitely follow up with an MRI.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer on both breasts. I had a BMX with TE this past week and I'm just awaiting for my full diagnosis next week
