Just wonder if anyone who has had radiation ended up with a scor on their lungs from it? It just occured to me while worrying about the spot on my right lung that the radiation oncologist told me 5 years ago my lung might has a scar.

Yes, my RO said radiation would "brush" the top of the lung and that it would be visible on imaging.

All the scans I've had since rads mention "fibrotic changes consistent with radiation therapy".

I was told basically the same, also that there would be some loss of lung capacity although minor.

Many things can scar lungs without us being aware of it - I have scarring (pre-radiation) but have never had pneumonia, etc (at least to my knowledge).

The spot my lung is top right side and about 4cm. I don't know if a scar looks like a lieson or do they look different. My Dr says I hlneed a bioposy as soon as possible and he know I have had radiation to that side.
