Unilateral mastectomy recovery time

My surgery is scheduled one month from now on August 17 (would be sooner but my surgeon will be out of the office for 1.5 weeks). I know that I should expect 1 night in the hospital (that seems so short!), but I don't know how long I should expect to feel bad and have enough pain to take meds for. I'm asking because I have a specific situation:

My wonderful daughter bought tickets for she and I to go see Cheap Trick in concert on August 28 as a birthday present to me (this was before we knew surgery date, etc). It would mean so much to me (and her, I'm sure) if I were able to go to that concert. It would involve driving 1.5 hours, sitting outside in a chair in likely hot weather for however long the concert is, then driving back. Is that too much to expect 11 days after surgery? Is it even possible? Foolish? Possible with risk?

I had a uni-masectomy on July 7, spent one night in the hospital. Had two drains, my BS took them out on July 13. I drove today for the first time since surgery. I am only taking one pain pill at night now to help sleep through the night. I am doing arm exercises several times a day as directed by my BS. Yes, it is still painful for sure, but getting better every day. Would you be doing the driving to your concert? That might be a lot for you if you have to drive yourself. If someone could drive you, you probably could do it. You would have to be sure to sit during the concert, as you are still recovering. I was sore just driving today running errands, I could feel pain just driving with my right arm, surgery side. I have been pretty sore all afternoon from the driving. That would be my concern for you is driving that far by yourself, could be a problem pain wise for you. Hope you can go, sounds like a fun time with your daughter.

I had an UMX on 24th of june and stayed 5 days in hospital and left with no drains at home. The next day I drove my car and have not taken painpills at home, so it might be very well possible.

Hope everything goes well, so you can make this trip
