Possible lung met
I went to see family Dr for pain in shoulder blade. Doctor was existing neck and shoulder and accidently found about a inch and a half lung lesson. He wants me to have lung biopsy and pet scan ect. could this be a scare from radiation to the breast? Any have a lung scare they had to have biopsies

icey, it's not at all uncommon to have something show up on lung imaging that has nothing to do with bc but are actually artifacts from pneumonia (even years ago) or other serious lung illness. Suzanne Somers wrote about her experience being dx'd with lung mets, when in fact what she had was actually valley fever. And a close friend of mine -- not a bc-survivor -- just went through a terrible scare when lung imaging pointed towards lung cancer that turned out to be some type of viral infection.
Rather than an immediate biopsy, some oncologists might choose to wait a few months and rescan, to look for any changes. Clearly I'm not a doctor and don't know your situation, but it's just something you might ask about before consenting to a lung biopsy, especially if you don't have any other symptoms, such as an increase in your TMs (CA27-29), etc. Just some thoughts.... I was diagnosed with lymphangitis after a staging ct scan for recurrance showed glasswork shadowing in the upper lobes of my lungs, one chest nodule looked enlarged, so i was told i would have the nodes sampled and if they came back positive they would know the changes in the lungs are from metastic disease. Unfortunately for me the chest nodules did come back positive so i was diagnosed with mbc.I had no symptoms at all. I have done 16 weeks of taxol with hp and thankfully my lungs were pretty clear on the last ct scan and my tumor markers are back to normal. I will now be one HP indefinitely.

Hi
I just had a cat scan. The dr said there are spots onboth of my lungs.
Thats all I know.
I am supposed to go for a lung biopsy. I am in the dark.
Would it be better to get a pet scan to show if there is cancer or to do the lung biopsy.
will anyone with any knowledge please reply
