How to interpret my DX

Hi,

OK, kind ladies ... I have a couple of questions.

I had my surgery a couple of weeks ago and got the pathology results. I am stage IIB without lymph node involvement. The results state ER +5 positive, PR +4 and +5 positive, and HER2 0 negative.

I had two IDC tumours: the largest was 2.75x14.9x2.52,cm. and the other was .61x.48x.5 cm. They also found a small intermediate grade of DCIS beside the smaller IDC.

I know the ER and PR positive mean the tumours were hormonal reactive and thus, I can take Tamoxifen which is good. But what is the significance of the +5 number?

What is the significance of the HER2 0 negative?

I will have my first appointment with the oncologist on August 4th.

Thanks for any information!

This looks like an Allred scoring reportwhich is a system of measurement of percentage of receptors and intensity of staining to identify that percentage. This link explains:

    http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Al...

Her2 is either positive or negative - Her2 positivity is a genetic overexpression that drives cancer replication and can indicate a more aggressive cancer and the need for chemo and targeted therapy. A negative result means this is an aspect that does not require additional treatment, so most are happy to be negative.

Hope this is helpful and wishing you the best.
