Shampooing balf head?

Yesterday was my first treatment. I know I'll be losing my hair soon. Curious how you care for a bald head? Wash with regular shampoo and conditioner? Just shampoo or just conditioner? Baby shampoo? Just rinse it off daily?

Thanks in advance for the input.

I just used my normal body wash on my head. No hair, no need for shampoo/conditioner is what I figured.

courtleboo, I just washed my bald head with the same soap I used on my body. To be honest, it was really nice to not have to fuss over my hair during treatment. Now that my hair is just shy of an inch long, I'm still thankful that I don't have to deal with it ~ I've just had my BMx surgery and I wouldn't be able to manage anyway. Not to mention its so hot here right now and I would just find it a nuisance!

How are you feeling about losing your hair?

I used a little baby shampoo twice a week, with a very small amount of coconut oil to moisturize my skin. Don't forget to use sunscreen wherever a hat, scarf, or wig doesn't cover it!

    Thanks ladies.

Ilovepugs I am more and more ok with losing my hair. I bought a few caps. My husband who usually has his head shaved is growing it out a little and we will shave our heads together.

On the advise of my hairdresser, I used Nioxin shampoo and conditioner for chemically treated hair on my bald scalp (since my hair follicles were being chemically treated from the inside out), after I was done with chemo I switched to the regular Nioxin until my hair had grown in again. It came back really nice, perhaps because of the Nioxin and perhaps not.

courtleboo, it sounds like you're going to embrace your temporary baldness and why not? I found it weirdly wonderful to lose my hair ~ if nothing else, it's nice not having to worry about doing anything with your hair while you're going through treatment. 😉

I used Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo at the suggestion of my one's PA. I bought one of those little, tiny travel sizes and hardly used any at all. It sits on a shelf in my bathroom 10 years later, just in case. [dark humor]
