Hope all goes well today, Little Blue, and anyone else headed to the chemo bar today.
KSusan, I also am so grateful for my fun job. When I am there, cancer does not even cross my mind.
Anyone else on Facebook? We've had fun connecting there! If so, PM me your name, or let me know you're on there and I'll PM you mine!
-
Littleblue, good luck today.
Happy Canada Day to y'all Canadian ladies!
KSusan, so happy to hear that port removal is much easier than port placement. Glad you are feeling good.
KBee, thanks for all the insight on Dose Dense vs. weekly. I suppose changing to weekly will fare better anyhow. Body is hurting and fatigue is pushing through, but, it ain't that bad.
Addie, I know how you feel about the weight gain. It sucks! Why do we have to be stressed about that too!
-
Littleblue: Good Luck today!Yep the weight gain stinks. I'm always hungry. Good Grief. Trying to make healthy choices: watermelon (thank God is in season) and frozen fruit also appealing to me and never was before. Also reminding myself to drink lots of water first as it might help decrease what I'm eating. Hoping anyway.... Don't fret too much. I hear a lot of it is the steroid water gain and we will get back on track. I think the mental positives are the most important right now.
Have a Happy, Safe and low side effects 4th Everyone! Hope wherever you are in the country the weather is great! :-)

Guys, I recently picked up some black bean pasta. One serving has 25 grams of protein! You can eat pasta and feel good about it. I'm going to make it with olive oil and peppers and serve it with grilled turkey and melon. I'll report back with how it tastes.
-
With you in spirit, littleblue.
-
LittleBlue- I'll be there in spirit. Wishing you a peaceful, non-eventful "bellying up to the bar" with little to no SEs to follow
-
Very curious to see how that black bean pasta turns out!
-
That black bean pasta looks good! Ok, half way thru taxol 3...ran out of ice mits...sad panda..
-
Yes, awaiting a pasta report.
My interactions with the radiation place are too stupid to detail right now--maybe later. I extend compassion to all sentient creatures, I guess, if I must.
-
I am grateful for KSusan's sense of humor.
Littleblue- glad you are done for the day. Sowwy about the mits. Boo.
-
Beluga whale, Mystic, CT!
-
Littleblue, hope your Taxol went well. Are you on Taxol #3 today? So far, round 1 was easy for me. In at 8:45, blood draw-all good, saw the doctor, premeds, Taxol, out at 12:45. No reaction to the Taxol, no head buzz or other issues, and nasal drip dried up, so just a little Benadryl fog. That may all change tomorrow.
Since Taxol after A/C for post-menopausal ER+ Her- women has a very small benefit, the MO says I'm calling the shots on this one - I can stop when I decide I'm through. At the momen,t I want that extra "just in case" 1-2%, so I'm hoping things stay good.
-
Good day all!
Positive_spirit, great pic of the whale! DH and I were in Mystic a couple of years ago, loved it! We ate at Mystic Pizza...of course. And the museum/fishing village is so cool!
Re weight...Addie, don't worry about it. When I mentioned to my MO that I needed to work on losing weight, she said "You have bigger things to worry about right now". Now is not the time to stress about it...there is enough stress in your life as it is. I wish I could be more active, but the heat here is unbelievable. The only way I can tolerate it is not expending too much energy, and drinking lots of ice water/Crystal Light.
I had my bloodwork drawn this morning and am due for my last chemo tomorrow! Yippee! My mom is here and will go with me to my final chemo. 😀

-
Yay last chemo, Andrea! So very proud of you!
Positive spirit, ok I gotta know..is the pizza place real? No I have to re watch the mocie! Great whale pic btw!
ksusan, you Crack me up. And also inspire me to gratitude for my wonderful life. Thank you!
Gko...do you have 4 taxol scheduled? Mine was uneventful today except I'm bombed on ativan and steroids and benadryl...can't tell up from down..
-
Awww. And that's not even what I say to myself (with obscenities) about compassion!
Very cool about the whale!
Not-so-cool--97F and I'm about to teach a 3-hour class. With luck the students will be too torpid to rebel, and also with luck, these radiation stickers won't slide right off my torso.
-
Andrea, soooooooo happy for you that tomorrow is your last chemo! Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope it goes well and that the side effects disappear quickly.
Littleblue, Glad all went well at Taxol today. Side effects be gone!
Positive Spirit, Love the picture!
Alibeths, Feel better soon!
GKOdad, so glad all went well today. May you keep feeling this good for the whole 2 weeks!
SueH, Do share how the pasta turned out. I seriously need to up my protein!
ksusan, Uh oh on the rads. Do tell. I hope all is ok!
-
Littleblue, Mystic Pizza is very real. There are photos and memorabilia from the movie all over the walls. And the pizza is very good!
Andrea
-
Kbeee, I'll post about it when I write my update for my family this weekend.
#24: I am grateful to sometimes be able to live in the moment.
-
Littleblue, I hope you have a good two weeks. I am scheduled for 4 dose dense, and I will do as many as I tolerate. I am also hopped up on steroids and Benadryl tonight, so tomorrow may look and feel a lot different. Hopefully still better than A/C. I'm just glad to be on the downhill side of chemo!
-
Gkodad, I hope you do as well! I came home and slept all afternoon, as usual after infusion . Later I will take a short walk. Bone and muscle pain doesn't really kick in for me until after neulasta tomorow! Keep us posted on how it goes for you, I'm sending good if addled thoughts your way!
-
I have 9 more treatments and then I'm done- I can't wait. Although taxol has been pretty gentle on me so far and I'm hoping that it stays gentle. Before dx I was doing a lot of cardio and trying to watch what I was eating. I've gained over 10 pounds since dx. Yikes!! Went and had a fill today and man I am in pain tonight. My chest is so tight- this is my first fill that has actually caused pain. And one day I hope to complete a 5k run. I'm not one to run in public just because I'm self conscious but one day I will over come that and do it
-
Addie, you little goose! I was afraid to ask how much you'd gained, figuring it was 25-30 pounds. You're young and active and will surely lose the weight quickly after treatment.
-
OK girls. As promised, here is the black bean pasta I made for dinner. I added garlic, olive oil, various seasonings including hot pepper flakes, herbs (i.e. cilantro, parsley, basil). Served it with fresh tomatoes from my garden with oil and vinegar diced on top. It was great, and 25 g of protein per 2 oz serving.

Here's an interesting question - My SIL asked me tonight when I would be considered either "no longer at risk" or "done" with breast cancer (but in a nice and tactful way). I have struggled with this question myself. I finish chemo next week and then start an AI thereafter. Have been on Zolodex injections for 6 months and will continue. I told her that the doctors don't speak of remission with BC, but only No Evidence of Disease. She asked how do you know you have NED. Good question. If the MO's are not doing scans and are just relying on symptoms, how do we truly know that we are NED? What constitutes a "survivor?" It doesn't seem like finishing the prescribed treatment and continuing with hormone therapy makes you a survivor despite having no breast. I still have the other one and there could still be cells lurking dormant in the rest of my body waiting to awaken or they could have missed one in my lymph nodes. So what have I "survived?" Treatment?
I'd appreciate your thoughts...
-
yummy
-
scarlett, I've struggled with that too. I have been told remission is the goal with early stage cancer treatment, but cure isn't a word they use much! So many questions...someone else said and I can't remember who, that they can cure cancer, they just don't know they have until that person dies of something else?
-
Well that's reassuring!
-
ugh...I know, right?
