what does it mean that I have high Proliferation Index (ki-stains 35-45% of tumor cell nuclei?

    Thanks! I am meeting with a team of Doctors tomorrow. I am going to MD Anderson Cancer Center here in Phoenix AZ.

    A lot of the MD's don't put much value on the KI67 and many labs won't do it or won't reveal it. Which is strange because it is part of the Oncotype score.

    I had a high KI67 and grade 3 and lymphovascular invasion but very low Oncotype. These things don't always go together. I did not do chemo.

    One thing I learned is that if biopsy tissue is in the specimen, the healing edges of the biopsy tissue in the sample can cause a high Ki67. Healing involves cell division and growth and can look like proliferation. Sure enough, my third opinion report said "biopsy changes noted."
