How are you being treated if you have neuropathy?

Well, everything I read on here said glutamine as a prevention for neuropathy but now I see posts saying it feeds cancer. Ugh. Anyway, I talked to my MO about this because each week she asks me if I have it. I mentioned this glutamine thing and she (of course) didn't know anything about that but said they prescribe some amino acid. I can't recall the name but I am wondering if any of you are receiving it, have gotten it, does it work, etc?

Interestingly and coincidentally, my friend who came with me yesterday said SHE just recently starting taking this amino acid and has had numbness in her lower arms. But she also said it could have been caused by a very stressful business meeting she had Monday where she was literally clenching her hands and lower arms for several hours.
