Dr. Bronner's castile liquid soap

If anybody uses this, please let me know if you've noticed it's different now than five years ago. The stuff used to be really viscous, but this last bottle is super watery. Bronner's tells me it hasn't changed. Hmmm. I've done some googling and it seems like a few have said it's watery so I don't want to complain to the sales lady at the health food store if it's just like that now....or maybe just a bad batch. She's always so nice to order things in for me, including this soap....I don't want to alienate her. Any other Bronner's users? Is yours watery?

Forgot to add, I buy both peppermint and lavender and of late, they're both watery.

    I just bought some Dr. Bronners today. It's pretty thin, but that's what I remember it being. I think that's just how it is when it's warm out.

    Most liquid soaps have thickening agents, but not Dr. B's.

    I have the peppermint and its the same as I remember too. Thinner than dish liquid-but a little still goes a long way.

    I have't noticed a change, and we use it every day. I actually dilute it further about 1/3 to 2/3 water, and it is the best soap ever.

    Thank you ladies. These bottles last so long, I only remember the prior batch. I think maybe there was something wrong with THAT one. I had to ask because one of the kids was bellowing in the shower "there's something wrong with the new bottle of hippie soap". ......kids. These seem REALLY thin, though. I bet you're right NineTwelve....probably got shipped here on a sweltering hot truck and stayed melt-y.

    Did you buy it in the bottle they sell it in, or did you get in bulk? Mine was from the bulk aisle and it is thin as water. I still dilute it, and it works fine. I got the orange scented.

    (You know, since getting sick, I really started to feel a kind of body-sympathy with our sick planet. I have cut way back on the things I take home from stores that will be in landfills all too soon. Bulk buying makes so much sense. I wish it was more popular.)

    Bulk in orange? You are so lucky. I live in a city with a pop of about 300,000 and there are only two stores that will sell the stuff, and one only if it's in the mood. No choice, one size, three flavors, and I can really only get it regularly because one of the small markets orders it in special. I think that's ludicrous. Our major grocery chain has an organic section no bigger than my kitchen table (same with the one out of three Wal-Mart's). The two organic markets we do have are a joke. I just can't afford to shop there. Four bucks for a head of Romaine! They sure don't make it easy. Sigh.

    I can so relate to what you're saying Nine Twelve. Our planet gets more toxic everyday. No small wonder we're sick....and it's pretty clear to me, that where I live at least, nobody gives a rat's behind. They might as well post signs that say this toxic shit is the best you're gonna get so shut up and like it. It's all very frustrating.

    You can order directly from the company and they usually have a good shipping deal if I remember correctly.

    Pretty sure that I've seen it at Target.  You might look there. My store, at least, has a separate section with "greener" products all together.

    I am with you, leg, I have been thinking its been more watery for several years now. Were you aware that the Bronner patriarch recently died? I think his family caved to pressure to dilute dilute dilute!

    Tadover, thanks for the info. I checked on the website and they want 10 bucks to ship it. Too rich for my blood, but the info will certainly help someone in the US get their hands on it easily. Free shipping even. Glennie, we had  Target stores here in Canada for a hot minute and they quickly shut down. I blinked and missed my Target shopping opportunity! Tomboy, I was not aware of that. It still seems to work as well but what I would normally dilute didn't suds as well...I want bubbles so straight up, I guess from here on in. That's gonna get pricey. I've written it off as either a bad batch (guess I'll find out next time) or now that you've said that, maybe they are diluting for profit. That would be sad.....really sad that the company would risk their reputation.

    I wonder if there is anything similar, from another soapmaker, leggo? (No way would I want to pay ten bucks to ship a bottle of soap!) I found a site that lists other brands of castile soap. Maybe one of the stores near you stocks one of these brands?

    Leggo, I am so glad you brought this up!

    I had not used Dr B's peppermint soap for about a year until I bought some last month. I was looking for some summer heat relief with the tingly peppermint soap. I noticed right away that it seemed less concentrated since it didn't suds up as thick and rich as I recall in the past. Worse still, the peppermint didn't seem as strong, either! It used to be that it would leave a tingly feeling for a good bit after showering in areas like the armpits, inner thighs, and ...um... butt cheeks. ;-) I don't get this same effect anymore. My first thought is they've tinkered with the formula. :-(

    Great minds think alike Gemini . I bought the peppermint for summer freshness too! They're is something really off about it for sure. The tingle is definitely gone and it works like crap on everything I've used it for. Don't like it anymore. Kinda counted on this stuff 'coz I refuse to use antiperspirant. On the plus side, trashing it forced me to find a "stink alternative". If anyone's interested, it's a combination of "Naturally Fresh Mineral Stick" and homemade scented dusting powder. It's been working pretty well throughout our consistent 35 degree heat. Yay!!! and Boo, Dr. Bronner's.....they HAD something good. Why did they screw with it? Bet it had something to do with profit....sigh.
